Hi Mike, you are spot on regarding, 'it's a shame to cover the exhaust up with the bumper', but I guess its the law

All put back together, running in. The exhaust note is a 'fruitier deeper rumble'

Limited due to lock down and not being able to give her a good run, but I'm very pleased to date. When I purchased my 1st 911 (1977 air-cooled) it had a sound track that was intoxicating, at or just above 3000 rpm the noise was just glorious, it brought out the little devil in me at times just to hear the scream as she winded up.
When I started looking at newer 911's, I was worried that the idiosyncrasies that my early car had would be diluted out of the modern version. However I was pleasantly surprise to find that the majority of traits had been passed on, and in a lot of cases improved considerably, except one. I found that the exhaust note is very grown up on the 997 compared to my earlier 911, something which I really had no intension of addressing as I too felt I had also grown up, and the more refined note now suited. Driving my 997 now however is like having my older 911 back, the tone of the exhaust isn't quite as raw as my earlier 911 but not far off, I've also noticed that I have regained my 'naughty smile', something I'm sure you all have noticed from time to time, but being grown ups, don't want to admit it in polite company

I purchased the majority of the stuff from Design911, CATs, Mufflers and the Tandem oil pump, a one stop shop so to speak

As the weather was nice this weekend, I decided to have a go at Ceramic Coating the car. I have toyed with the idea for a little while, but like all things new, decided to do a little reading on the subject first. But to be honest very easy process and defiantly worth it.
1st pre-washed the car and mitted down.
2nd snow foamed the car, and rinsed and then shammed dry.
3rd Used Polish /Wax remover all over the panels (used Pure Definition) very easy to use and it clearly removed all unwanted muck off the car.
4th Panel by panel Ceramic Coated (used Carbon Collective), I've never used Ceramic Coatings before so have no comparison to base on, however very easy to use and straight forward process.


The images don't really show the level of shine, I'm impressed with the finish, so much so that I don't think I will be waxing a car ever again. I was so happy I even did my wife's BMW

Decided to take the car to work last week, good idea to keep the car driving so I thought. On the way home in traffic a warning sign popped up, Not again !! "Battery Generator", in red eg STOP.
I know that if the alternator fails you only really have 30 mins at best before the engine will cut out. However I managed to get the car back home and order a new Alternator.


I decided to clean off some of the surface corrosion before reinstalling the new Alternator.

Nice new Alternator in place, Took about hour and half, quite a quick job really. I would recommend it as a DIY job. It was tight and fiddly but nothing really challenging
And the best of it, no more warning lights on the dash, well for now anyway
Over the last couple of months I haven't been really up to much, apart from driving that is (which is nice

Needs to be used in a warm, well ventilated environment, and very light coats.
