Hi there not sure if there is an issue with my PDK but it feels indecisive in lower gears, I bought my 2009 997.2 C2S in March having checked the Transmission oil and filter change had been completed in line with Porsche recommendations, I am going to purchase a Diagnostic Tool and the one I keep seeing is the Icarsoft v01. Will this read any PDK faults ? Also is there any way to check the Transmission oil levels ?

I’d contact iCarsoft directly to answer your question about the tool’s capabilities.

Have a look online for videos covering PDK oil changes. I’ve a feeling that the level has to be set with the oil up to full working temperature? If there’s a helpful Porsche Independent in your area maybe they can give you some advice?

If you are going icarsoft route consider the the II or the III. I suspect the the v1 won’t have a scooby about PDK.

I would also suggest looking at the foxwell nt530 - more Porsche smarts in my experience.

BUT. Unless there is an actual error code, then none of those tools will tell you anything. If you need to recalibrate or reprogram the box with a later firmware, then you need piwis and ( at least for re program and possible for a proper recalibrate although YouTube suggests it’s possible ) then the piwis needs to call home to the mother ship (so you need someone with Porsche partner network access) or an OPC.

For reading the codes. Perhaps some one local to you will have one or more of the tools and will “scan for a beer”. No idea of your location but I am in north Kent. I have icarsoft, foxwell and piwis. Woukd be happy to plug in an see if any codes are being thrown.

I have ordered v2.0 should get it on Tuesday. Really appreciate the offer I am in south Essex. I’ll have a play but may take you up on your offer if I can’t make any sense of it.
 
i'm a bit late to this thread but I'm in London E11 and have Foxwell Nt530 if you want to try it out? I've had the Icarsoft and I prefer the Foxwell as it can code some items and do everything the Icarsoft can do.
 
It could be a software issue. If you have PDK the last version is 0.82. I am getting this done at the OPC. The first versions of the PDK version were good but they can be sometimes indecisive in Sport mode when changing down. Nothing to worry about I have been told by Nine Excellence.
 
There are a couple of routines you could try out which solve the laggy throttle, and the sluggish/indecisive pdk

Reset throttle position
Turn ignition to on position (not start) for 60 seconds
Turn off for 5 seconds
Turn back to on position for 15 seconds
If you have the engine cover open you may hear the throttle readjusting
Start as normal.

Reset PDK
Turn ignition to on position (not start) for 60 seconds (foot off brake)
Turn car off
Now start car normally

I have tried both of these on the Macan PDK and they seem to have worked.
I was having to press down quite a bit on the accelerator when in 'normal' driving mode
After resetting throttle position normal mode does seem better now, like 'sport' mode was, and 'sport' mode is now more responsive

Also I thought the PDK was shifting up through the gears a bit quickly and after the reset, gears seem much better.

Costs nothing to try and won't damage anything

Give it a go and let us know
 
There was another PDK reset which was a bit more long-winded

PDK FACTORY RESET PROCEDURE
1. Turn on the engine, turn off A/C (and any other systems like PCM radio etc) and let the engine run for 3 minutes.
2. Turn on A/C and wait another 3 minutes.
3. Turn off engine, remove the key, close & lock the car and wait one minute.
4. Restart car and PDK is now reset to factory default

I did do this one, but sitting with the engine running for 6 minutes made me feel like someone was having a laugh :ROFLMAO:

Either way, this post or the one above, my PDK is great now.

Is the word "on" a typo in item 1, should it read "off"?

Erm … I don’t think so? The ignition needs to be turned “on” to start the engine and let it run for 3-mins while everything else is turned “off”.

I have never seen that procedure (which I think is called torque slip calibration) described for a 9x7 or later cars.

I have seen it documented for Macan but I was under the impression that the PDK in the Macan was closer to the VW DSG box than the PDK of the 911 (and boxster and cayman models)

I did once do it on my previous 987.2 PDK and have to say I am pretty sure it made zero difference to anything. I wasn’t chasing a particular problem but had read about it and was curious.

Of course. Your mileage may vary but I am pretty sure it’s a “thing for the macan after battery replacement,” that is not listed for 9x7.
 
If you are purchasing a diagnostic tool, buy Durametric. Best tool for analogue 911s. I have one and don't regret it at all.
