Monday night game for us to play.

Tried to buy this recently advertised car;
Model 944 Turbo
Make Porsche
Year 1990
Mileage 69,000 miles
Colour White
Engine size
2,479 cc
1990 944 turbo in alpine white with blue leather interior. black cup alloys, original d90 alloys andtyres also included.69000 miles, timing belts, tensioners, water pump replaced at 66000 miles.recent front brake calipers rebuild.good strong engine, solid body work apart from corrosion on front wheel arches.no advisories on last two mot s. road tax end january 2013,mot end july 2013. £3000. ono

I spoke to seller (who had owned the car for 5 years and travelled only 6k in his ownership). Non sunroof car. Spare set of Turbo D90s with great tyres also included (seller had put Cup 1s on the car but kept the originals too). Low number of owners and every single MOT except 2 and a stamped up service book (which helps to validate the low miles).

ANYWAYS, a very well known trader in Central Scotland who likes to deal in 944s, arrived 48 hours before I had intended to travel and picked it up. My loss - I didn't move fast enough (that's what happens when you have a day job outwith the motor trade!).

I certainly don't begrudge anyone making a living but, in the interests of a little fun, let's play a little game and guess the starting price on Pistonheads.

So, advertised for sale at £3000 ono previously.

I'd guess AT £9000 on Pistonheads.

Have a go.... it's just a bit of fun. Closest to the Pistonheads price wins a "virtual" Mars Bar.

I told you to keep up the marathon running you may have been a bit faster[:D]

my guess £6995 with wheels for sale seperately

There's asking prices and selling prices... however, it all depends on what he does with the crusty wings*. If the rest of it is genuinely rot-free and in good order, and with the wings replaced or genuinely well repaired and resprayed (not a huge job) then it could well be £9k, and quite possibly worth it. But people are always reluctant to buy cars with visible flaws. Even white ones (obviously the best and fastest colour).

If it was as good as it sounds he sold it very cheap, but then a lot of people just want a quick painless sale almost regardless of price, and who's to say they're wrong if they have more important things to do with their lives?

*and as the previous poster said, it also depends on whether he splits out the spare wheels.

If its who I think it is they tend to charge top whack for their cars, 69,000 miles will therefore be £12K+

I cheated and looked on PH - if I got the right one, then thats a serious price for a 944 ! (Serious mark up as well)

Have to say, it looks like a stunner [:)]

Link? Real shame, done 7k in mine already. How could u do only 6k in 5 years?

Based on the last white 944 turbo I'm going 10k

Precisely my thoughts to the letter.

At least £11k, and probably more.

I'm in the wrong job.
