Dead battery.

Here goes I will try and explain best I can.
Car laid up winter 2022, fitted with battery conditioner all through winter. Come spring dead battery - battery replaced and drove without any battery issues. Taken for bare metal repaint in June 2023 and ready October 2023. Paint shop advised batter tested and found to be dead - new battery number 2 fitted. Taken for service and left with them from October to now and again battery dead! What could be the issue? Would appreciate thoughts. TIA.

Yes the car has an old Sony stereo fitted, which I personally suspect is the culprit. However I do have limited knowledge on these as they are more complex than my old 67 VW splitscreen ever was. Second thought was is it the factory alarm? It’s the original alarm that uses a fob inserted into the dash. Could be a number of things I suppose. Nothing relay related I assume?

One thing that sometimes draws current is the flaps inside the cabin heating system getting stuck in wrong position. The servo that moves them stays powered until the locate to requested position. If they are stuck it keeps draining the battery.

However, if plugged into a conditioner I would expect the conditioner to easily keep up with this and the battery would stay happy. I wonder if you have a faulty conditioner?
 
If you still have the original Hamilton and Palmer alarm system I would also get that checked or removed as it is also known to cause battery drain problems. The register technical advisor Christian Sanger is also an expert on all things 993, contact details in P Post.
