de-greaser recommendations

I have my seats out and am giving them a really good clean and leather condition and all that good stuff. However the runners and motors etc are filthy (obviously) now I realise that I may be getting a bit anal about this but since I am about to remove the carpets to steam clean them I thought I might as well clean the bits of the seats that you never see.

Anyhow, getting to the point of the post, what should I use to de-grease the runners etc? I am also going to want to clean out the electric window motors in an attempt to speed the operation of the windows, any recommendations for this too?

As ever, thanks in advance for all your help

Bilt-Hamber Surfex HD is best I have used, waterbased degreaser useful for engines and doesn't kill environment.

I'll second the Bilt Hamber Surfex.

(In fact, I am a bit of a fan of BH products generally; their clay bars and auto balm are both excellent, as is their vanilla-scented WD40-replacement, whose name I can never remember .. )

Bilt-hamber auto balm is amazing! I haven't tried the clay yet though. I'm waiting for a nice clear weekend so I can do some proper detailing of the 944 and the Rover.

Agreed, all Bilt Hamber products are well R&D'd and it shows IMO, they now also do a hard wax underbody sealant and a clear wax cavity sealant for more visible bodywork areas, great for wing bottoms and winter prep. I love the bilt hamber stuff, British company too...

Onlt thing I would say is that after you have cleaned all the grease of don't forget to re-grease the rails and motors/mechanisms inorder to keep it all running smothly.Sounds like the po has done this,if in a slightly heavy handed way.

Hi Oli

Where do you get this Bilt Hamber stuff from - factory direct?

Bilt hamber stuff (and a couple of aerosols to spray in my sills) now ordered, should arrive tomorrow so I can finish off my silky smooth supple seats (said in a very smug, pleased with myself tone)

Thanks for the advice guys

Paul,

As has been said, there are various places that sell it, and they all have different arrangements for discount and P&P.

Work out what you want and then try the various chaps mentioned on this thread to see who is cheapest. And yes, it's all good stuff ...
