Watched the carrera cup boys there today, the commitment through cascades is epic! Great racing, although the end of race two was a shocker! Felt so sorry for both of them, glad they are OK. Repeated on ITV4 tomorrow night, for those who missed it on TV.
 
Hi h.... , am down in London , watched the Oulton racing on ITV4 today , missed the first Carrera Cup race , saw the 2nd touring car race , Ginettas , Clios , 3rd touring car race and last but not least the second Carrera Cup.
Interesting to see the different lines taken by the different race marques , and to compare with the still fresh memory of driving the ( Full) circuit on Wed trackday. Plenty of offs at Druids , and a few at Lodge , looked like a good day's spectating.
Off to Goodwood in the morning for a 'classic cars' trackday with a 41 year old ( car not companion ! ).....was fitting classic trackday wheels with Avon stickies today.....however weather looks like its on the turn to something damper [8|]
 
Just got back from Goodwood 'Classic Car' trackday . Weather was dry [:)].
I took a lot of pictures of the cars that were there. Mine was the only Porsche!
Derek Bell and Mark Hales were there , some guy had brought his collection of exotica and entourage , all we needed was Bernie Ecclestone for a full-on big money motorfest. D type , E types , AC Cobra , GT40 , Frazer Nash , swb Ferrari 250s , Mclaren F1 , Lotus Coventry Climax , etc etc.
Will post pics later in week.
 
You should have got Derek to sign your glove box, started a few rumours and in 10 years time it would have been worth £250k!![;)]

Yes...I know he catches me very easily but not only is it a much quicker car but it's also being driven by the co-owner Mike who's done a bit of historic formula Ford around OP [;)]

I used my own cheapo ebay spycam on the day but seemed to have messed up most of the recordings but managed to get a little bit showing Paul's RS out on track:

...re my 'classic car' trackday Goodwood on Monday 7 June....here's the shot of messrs Bell and Hales discussing how they both got offered drives in the same car......nice car , had one significant option in common with mine.....guess ???
( hint , not visible in the picture! )

I don't think I can catch Bell [8|] in age or speed ..however I did overtake Mark Hales - the bad news is that he was driving an A40 with passenger ballast - still it's a start !

250 SWB has original type ANSA tailpipes, they certainly don't make the car any quieter!!!

Pics to come, yes the GT3 brakes were tedious to say the least.

Took a set of Performance Friction pads off (that worked but were noisy) and put Pagids (standard) on.

The discs were contaminated with the Performance Friction material, so with help from Andy Baynham and Keith from (Tim A. will help me out here), we bead blasted the front discs and reassembled everything over lunch.

With great hope for the afternoon session, we discovered that one or more of the discs was "running out" when hot creating a brake judder that one could press through --- only for it to return at the next corner, and then the pedal went soft --- despite the recently replaced SRF (actually last year !!)

The really silly thing is that on the road they are now better than ever, and the car is running very very well.

But for track use, what are the options ?

Keith Dickens from KD Motors, Chris. [:)] Keith recently restored Peter Cook's ex-factory Le Mans 993GT2 (wide body) - which you saw in thre process a few weeks ago.

Yes that softening pedal was a bit disconcerting coming into Lodge and Old hall! [&:]

You're welcome Paul! [:)] I have to say, as I did on the day, I was mightily impressed with your brakes! LOL... everyone - I went out for some laps with Paul first thing and when we arrived at Hizzy's and Paul left his braking very late I was thinking 'It ain't going to stop in time!'... but it did! LOL [:)]

Also thanks to Steve 'Boxy' for the tea and cakes! And to John for organising the meal (at one of my locals! [:)])... a very enjoyable night! [:)]

My mate Peter cook came down in the afternoon with his 997GT2 and a mate of his, Mark, was there with his new 997GT3RS. They did some back-to-back's driving eachother's cars and and concluded that the GT2 is heavy and suffers a little from turbo lag (the RS picks up much more quickly out of the chicanes) but still ballistic, and Pete decided he won't bother getting an RS but will stick with the GT2... at least until he changes his mind again! LOL [;)]

I was at the Autosport show in January, staying at the Hilton, and while queuing at the bar to get Cass and myself a top up, got a tap on the shoulder. I turned to see Mr Bell (yes Derek) who said "Haven't seen you for a while! I wondered who it was with the same hair as me!" LOL (I've had a few encounters with him over the years, including drinking 'til 7am in the De Vere hotel, Coventry, in 1978 at the Jim Russell Racing Driver's School annual dinner dance!
