Dates for next Oulton Park outing

Need to rain check on that ...

Bank holiday Monday , Tuesday in London, Wednesday at Oulton ... not having to drive home sounds appealing [;)]

The Happy Guests again ?

Steve , I've put a separate topic up to see if there are any more takers for a post Oulton dinner.......[8|]......suggest Chetwode , but open to other venues eg Alvanley Arms if there is a core mass of Suvveners already staying there

I've just realized that this TD is 3 days before the Oulton Park rounds of the BTCC and Carrera cup. I wonder if there will be few interesting cars there getting a bit of extra practice in for the weekend? [:D]

Looking forward to it and just printed the Indemnity forms.

Are the garages on allocation, or first come first served ?

We have two garages booked for us.....tea and coffee will be permanently on the boil.

Will do Hugh. Will also be trying out the new spycam.....expecting to get some nice footage of the RS boys overtaking me [8D]

All back safe and sound. Cracking the flags type of day. Track in fantastic condition. Brilliant time had by all (thanks Easytrack). Now full of food and beer. Pics and banter to follow in due course [:)]

Looks like good fun! Everything go well?

Yes...all the 964s ran without a hitch. John, Kevin and Paul were flying in their RSs, Andrew's first ever trackday in his C2 has got him hooked, Talat and myself did our best to chase the others and Benny's lightweight 964 turbo was biblically fast! Only Chris had a truncated day because his first go at Oulton in the GT3 was blighted by bad brakes.

Food and beer at the Chetwode afterwards was yummy and the long legged waitress even yummier! [8D]

that will be all that extra weight being lumbered around ;)

glad you all had a good time

An excellent day at Oulton , the weather played its part and the non-Porsche contingent were well behaved [:D]

There was a wide mix with not too many race cars testing even though there is a big weekend of racing at Oulton.
Honda owners turned out in force with various Type Rs , there were some Loti and Beemers of the track variety plus the odd Nissan Skyline , an Audi R8 with go faster decals and of course Bo's hotted up Vauxhall.

Was given a passenger ride in a 996GT3RS , with Gungho Gordon at the helm ......it was very enlightening.......Gordon seems to know a different way round the track , the road less travelled , which is a definite advantage when overtaking as no -one else is occupying the space you are heading for [:D]

Was looking forward to some hot laps in Chris's 'other car' , ( one of them) , the Zanzibar GT3 , but it was not to be.
The disappointment was made up for by a late hare and hounds session with Paul Rubystone and Kevin FerrariGelb , the lower drag coefficient of Kevin's lovingly Zymolled beauty eventually told ( as well as lack of ballast ) [;)]
Not quite as aggressive as the old Carrera Cup racing but a reminder of how much fun and non power assisted work-out can be had with our iconic cars.

Pics to come, yes the GT3 brakes were tedious to say the least.

Took a set of Performance Friction pads off (that worked but were noisy) and put Pagids (standard) on.

The discs were contaminated with the Performance Friction material, so with help from Andy Baynham and Keith from (Tim A. will help me out here), we bead blasted the front discs and reassembled everything over lunch.

With great hope for the afternoon session, we discovered that one or more of the discs was "running out" when hot creating a brake judder that one could press through --- only for it to return at the next corner, and then the pedal went soft --- despite the recently replaced SRF (actually last year !!)

The really silly thing is that on the road they are now better than ever, and the car is running very very well.

But for track use, what are the options ?

had another superb day @O /p weather was warm @sunny car seemed to be flying toyos seemed to work very well looking @video 1.53 but Stevie t was quicker 1.50 Had a few lapswith a new rs... I'll keep the 996 thanks again to Easytrack & John buy a 996 rs you know it makes sense !!!!
