Dash Lights + Rear fogs not working

After giving my interior a thorough clean I've noticed my dash lights have stopped working. The three bulbs that light up the instrument cluster, plus the bulbs behind the heater buttons etc. The rear fogs have also stopped working, when you press the button the little orange light in the button doesn't come on.

I spent 5 mins playing around, switching on and off the foglights and managed to get the dash lights to come on. But now they've stopped working again.

Ive checked the fuse and its not that.

Any other suggestions?!

It sounds like you dislodged years of accumulated finger oils with your through cleaning (just kidding - probably got some cleaner into the switches and dimmer rotary for the dash lights). You can try some electrical cleaner/lubricant spray to move the grunge around and/or displace any cleaning fluid. I have used a spray labeled "color TV tuner cleaner" (Radio Shack over here) but anything that you would use on the TV or the knobs and switches on your stereo equipment, etc, should work fine.

thanks for the replies.

I think your right and I have got some liquid into the switches somewhere. Thanks for pointing me towards the rotary dimmer. I'll look into it tomorrow!

Don't forget on an S2 and I think a turbo the rear fogs only come on when the front ones are switched on plus headlights.
