Damaged drivers window

Advice please!
Opening the drivers door on my 992 Carrera T recently on a cold day the inner layer of glass cracked in two places.
Seeking support from Porsche on warranty they have said it’s not covered because of “outside influence” but have agreed on appeal to make a £500 contribution to a £1500 repair.
The car’s only 3 months old and temperature was -3.
I feel mistreated - anybody else had similar?
Thanks

Sorry to hear of your damage so soon into ownership.
How about looking at your car insurance under windscreen cover. Most policies cover all glass and don’t affect NCB?

Have you contacted Porsche GB about it or is it just your OPC you've been dealing with? "Outside influence" is the phase my OPC used, although not about a window. My argument to Porsche GB would be the car should be able to stand up to normal use, i.e. it should not break just by opening the door, even if it was cold.

Looks like you have Lightweight Glass, standard fit on a 992 T and 992 GT3, there was a known problem with the lightweight glass fitted to GT3s, and other 911s that had it as an option, my GT3, a 2021 car (which I no longer own) could have been affected but I never experienced the problem. There are several issues with the glass but one very relevant to your 992T was that the door glass may not have been fitted properly so it was misaligned and could make contact with the rear quarter glass during opening or closing and crack as a result. There is a Porsche Service Bulletin for the 992 911s fitted with that glass, which is attached maybe worth investigating because your cracked window looks very similar to the image on page 1 of the TSB.

This is very useful thank you. The OPC is not really interested - it’s not where I bought my cars. I will speak to them tomorrow with this service bulletin. Thank you again

Ouch! That looks like serious damage Jonny.😳

The damage appears to be at the top of the window, so maybe the window was frozen to the seal and the cracks occurred on the inner lamination when you pulled the door open using more force than usual?

To avoid the same thing happening again it’ll be worth investing in a rubber protectant like this:
