Does anyone happen to know the correct compression test pressure figures for a 924S engine? I have them for a 944 (similar engine but de-tuned) from the Haynes 944 manual (10 bar min.), but I assume that the 'S' figures will be a bit lower.

According to Peter Morgans book at release of the 924S the comp. ratios were...

944 10.6:1
924S 9.7:1 (early 150bhp)
924S 10.2:1 (later 160bhp cars)

If it helps I had mine checked a while ago(160bhp engine) and they came out at 170, 175, 175 and 180 psi, so ~ 12bar.

Reasonable engine 150psi

There should not be any difference between engines, wether it be a Porsche or a Mini

Siggy, How can that be? Surely the smaller the space that you sqeeze the gases into the higher the pressure, so readings must be affected be compression ratio?
