My old ctech MXS 5 battery charger and top up conditioner has gone kaput. (for my 997.1 C4S)

A quick browse of both the ctech website and Amazon shows that the Ctech MXS 5 is still available at approx £80 (Amazon) and the newer NXT 5 at £120 (ctech site suggested)......anyone got experience of buying these lately and can recommend the best way to go ? thanks.

My 10 year old MXS5 also recently started to misbehave. I just replaced it with another from Amazon at around £80 as I couldn't see any value add to me from the later model.

Thanks Brian, I know they only have a one year warranty and I'm sure they all have a similar life-span regardless of whether they are the latest tech or an older version. Mine is also ten years old so I'll probably do the same. Happy to hear from any anyone else about their experiences or thoughts about the new one too.

I think they have 5 year warranty. I’ve found CTEK helpful if you contact them directly with any questions. You get answers from people with Swedish names from Sweden, which is unusual these days.

5 year warranty. Had mine replaced last year. Had a random couple of red lights. Another ctek from a mate worked for a few days without error.

Emailed them with the Amazon receipt. No arguments or questions. Just sent me another - full kit with the standard accessories and no requirement to return the original hurt a request to cut the cable off and recycle as appropriate.

Thanks to all for the updates. Mine also went on the blink a few years ago when it would charge up but not “trickle” top up, so I’ve just used it as a charger for a while but will now probably invest in a new replacement and get a new MXS 5. 👍

I have used a Noco Genius G1100 for extended periods as a battery conditioner / maintainer especially over winter months when the car has had time off the road and it has been amazing.
