As discussed at the February meeting, I've been approached about PCGB having a club stand at the Madness@Croft event on Saturday the 9th of May.
I went to the first event last September and it was a very well run and successful event with over 1200 people attending. It has been jointly organised between Mike from Croft and Jamie who has organised several events previously.
The format is a general car show all day with various club stands (last year included classic fords, lotus, Japanese, etc) as well as food outlets, shops and Time Attack cars on display as well as passenger rides in them for charity. There was also a varied selection of rides and things to do for the kiddies which were and will be continue to be free. What separates it from a standard car show though is the use of the circuit and availability of track time too.
In the morning from 9-12 the short circuit at the rear of the circuit will be in use as the main start-finish straight will be used for drag times (one car at once with official timing equipment). From 1-5 in the afternoon the full circuit is open for track sessions. There was a wide variety of cars on track last year from track-prepped Escorts, Ariel Atoms, Nissan GT-Rs and Aston Martins through to classic VWs and minis.
Currently the maximum number of cars for a club stand is 25 but I can try and get this raised if there is enough interest.
The costs are £10 entry per person
Short Track - £20 for 15mins
Full Track - £25 for 15 mins (10% discount for 4 or more sessions booked)
1/4 mile drag strip - TBC
Furthermore - if there is sufficient interest then we can have a club-only 15-minute track session for £500 with a maximum of 25 cars on track. If we fill it then it's only £20 per person but obviously if we only get 10 take-ups it would be £50 so I won't confirm this until I've gauged interest.
Please add your thought/interest to this thread and I'll get the link for purchasing tickets/track time up once I've heard back that the club has been added to the drop-down list online.
