Creaking From Suspension / Steering Briefly On Cold Start In Morning

Just recently I have noticed a creaking coming from the suspension / steering when starting my Cayman first thing in the morning and maneuvering off my drive. There is usually around six of so short creaks and then it stops. I don't hear it again until the next morning.
My Cayman GTS 4.0 is coming up for 3 years old and has done 17,000 miles.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Is this the start of a fault that will only get worse or is it likely nothing to be concerned about?

Thanks Mark

Hi Mark,

It’s been very hot and dry recently, so maybe the creaking is coming from one of the strut top mounts which could have dried-out? You could try raising the bonnet and listening in those areas while someone turns the steering wheel.

Back in the day we used to squirt washing-up liquid on offending joints, but I’m sure there are more sophisticated and effective lubricants available these days.😀

Thanks Jeff.

Silicon spray seems to work well Mark. Worth a try as it will not harm anything. But as you are still under warranty I would pop by your OPC if convenient.

Thanks John, I'll try the silicone spray. I need to book my Cayman in for it's MOT in June so I'll ask my OPC as well then.
