Attended Reading OPC last week and got a shopping list, most of which I was expecting.
They did quote £250 for a 4 wheel alignment check. Without wishing to get into a discussion about Centre Gravity at this time, is this worth doing at the OPC? Car is 3 years old and did have its front dampers replaced under warranty about a year ago.
Also, they spotted oil smear below the gearbox. Diagnosed as IMS (or RMS?). They said that it is not too bad at the moment and should be OK to leave for the time being. I have an extended Porsche warranty and they confirmed work should be covered.
However, I have noticed the the oil level gauge has dropped a bar recently. Up to now, 24k miles, the level has always read full. Should I insist they examine further and get work approved by Porsche? My thinking is to ask them to do it as they have disgnosed the issue. The only benefit I can see of leaving it would that the clutch may get contaminated by oil and we can discuss that being replaced under warranty at the same time
Finally, anybody else hear of of a late 2008 2.7 Cayman having the IMS problem?
