Cotswold/Gloucestershire Bodyshops

I am looking to get some work done to tidy up the bodywork on my 911. Just a few rust bubbles around the windscreen and a few other areas. The way these things happen it'll probably end up being a complete respray/body restoration!

Can anyone recommend a good bodyshop in the Cotswolds/Glos area - I'm based in Cheltenham.

I'm looking for someone who is enthusiastic about doing restorative work and who I would call 'a craftsman'. Just a little old guy in a workshop would be fine if the job was excellent.

I've been to one well known bodyshop in Oxfordshire who I greatly respect and would obviously do an exceptional job, but I wasn't really taken with the £7k quote for a tidy up, and circa £14k for total respray. I'm well aware it's almost impossible to see a return in investment on a classic car and I'm not expecting that, but I'm also not willing to spend almost the entire value of the car in a little cosmetic tidying up.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Hi Rich
Talk to Steve Bull, he may well be able to put you in touch with someone as I believe he has a contact.

I've had some experience of Autotec in Andoversford (01242 820835) who do a lot of work on Ferraris for MHT in Northleach, but I'd also be interested in hearing some recommendations.

There is a bit about Bodywork/Paint on the R19 page with 10% Discount for members. It is in Reading thou. Might be a worth a look.

I would go to the guy with the best reputation for doing a great job at a realistic price - and be prepared to travel. If you intend to spend even a few hundred what's an extra 60 or 70 quid spent in delivery/collection etc. I can understand trying to find someone local to begin with but don't be put off by distance - talk to others who have had work done and take it from there.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Top Gun in Kidlington just outside Oxford. Pre 73 911s are their speciality although they'll turn their hands to anything. I've had a variety of work done by them from repairing small paint chips to entire bare metal resprays and have always been satisfied with the result. Have found their pricing to be reasonable too. You can reach them on 01865-379379.

Dear All,

Specialised Paintwork in Reading http://www.specialisedpaintwork.com are very good and highly recommended.

You'll find some valuable comments on the R19 (Thames Valley) Forum Section.

They can be reached on 01189 306 206

Thanks!
