Cover off, MOT booked, battery replaced, tyre pressures checked, screen cleaned, engine started (first bang) engine run upto operating temp., lights, indicators and usual stuff checked, shuffle cars in drive........ lets have a run down the street , checks out the clutch and brakes, run to the end turn round and check turbo boosts on the way back, so far so good[:)] Then brake for the drive to turn in and wooooch big white cloud of steam from front end [] Inspection time. Look down road, coolant stretches back to where I hit the turbo (that worked). Under bonnet, raining green water.
Now for the suggestions bit. Water loss appears to be coming from the back of the engine, question:- are there only heater hoses at the back of the engine or is there anything else that might let go. The reason I ask is because at the moment I am decorating the house from top to bottom and the boss would not take kindly to me disapearing under my toy untill all paint is applied. So suggestions please to cut down my search time. Thanks

Now I know what went woosh. The heater control valve exploded. [:'(]Looking at the pieces there are only two thin pegs holding the thing together, one had corroded through and the other couldn't take the strain so bang, coolant exits at a great rate of knots. It might be advisable to replace every 5 years or so.[8|]
