Just to say that the number of cars that turned out to Ragley was fantastic. Everyone thinks of the odd one or two 928s turning up for an event but you guys did yourself proud.

Being serious, the 928 is a stunning car in the right colour. I saw what must have been a press car in about 1978. THE 928S on a gold car. I'd only heard about the deformable bumper, and as I was only about 12 years old I had to poke a finger into that great rounded rear.
A late black 928 drove past us today, and it still had a presence that is sadly lacking in either the bland modern standard cars or the over-spoilered GT-something derivatives....
Maybe I'm just a child of the '80's, but I still think a 928 is the Germanic equivalent of an eccentrically British car like an equivalent Aston....

Brett congratulations your forecast of 40 -70 cars, was understated by 20'ish.
That works out at £1350 fine for the shambolic organisational abilities of PCGB.

The Pcgb did NOT lose money by allowing 928s in free, as a fixed fee was paid for the whole event and not by car or by passenger etc...if you see what I mean..
My estimate of 40 to 70 was a little low...not heard the final figure yes but Its over 90 as I understand it....

i got the 928 bug by reading 'car' magazine in the late seventies when they tested the exact same car, the 928s and raved about it...i remeber steve cropely writing that they had come up against a merc 560sec and 'beat it along the straights and beat it holow thru the curves..' the ywere mighty mighty impressed..another thing i remeber reading was that they unveiled the 928 at a track day and everyone bemoaned it as a soft gt car..so porsche let em loose in a 911 first...then all the journos present beat their lap times in the press 928..with much less drama and fuss.....now im not suggestin the 928 is a better or faster car than the iconic 911..(my dream car is an early 911)....but the big gt is a seriously underrated car by afficionados of the marque and the genera public....so what???..it keeps em cheap and means us oerdinary joes can aspire to owning them...
ps...i secretly hanker after a gold or bronze series 1 928 with that awful brown interior....so seventies its cool.....

those with a car with the engine in the wrong place just can't accept the fact that the 928 was the Porsche flagship model Built to replace the 911 Better in its day than anything on the road. It did win car of the year award and was the fastest production car on the planet. yah boo sucks

Depending what you read the 1977- Porsche 911 3.3 Turbo was the fastest production car in 1978 had a top speed of 260kmh (160mph) [] Also probably several US cars which were a lot quicker in a straight line - Shelby Cobras and similar.
Can't think of a proper four seater which was faster than a 928 though. And travelling a fair distance (like across Europe) I'd guess the 928 would be almost as quick, a lot more comfortable and you'd feel much fresher arriving at your meeting.
