Hi Guys

I'm going to order some new seals from Porsche and before doing so I wonder if some of you chaps (Martyn?) could confirm that I have the right parts.
PET isn't the clearest of catalogues, well not for me.

Most of you will know that my car is an early '86' 951, ie VIN 95ZGN model year

Mostly new rubber plus some decals.

944 rubber seals etc

Hatch seal: 944 512 043 00
Under rear wing seal/strip 944 512 463 00
Door seal left 944 537 091 00
Door seal right 944 537 092 00
Door handle pads 867 837 209 x2
Door handle pads 171 837 211 A x2
Window sealing strip outer 477 837 470 A x2
Roof gutter sealing strip 944 559 707 00 x2
Stone guards, front wing left 944 559 321 00 3YK clear
Stone guards front wing right 944 559 322 00 3YK clear
Stone guards rear wing large left 944 559 325 00 3YK clear
Stone guards rear wing large right 944 559 326 00 3YK clear
Stone guards rear wing small left 944 559 323 00 3YK clear
Stone guards rear wing small right 944 559 324 00 3YK clear
Hatch pin rubber seal left 944 512 365 01
Hatch pin rubber seal right 944 512 366 01
Rear ‘Porsche’ logo black 477 853 635 B
Rear hatch lock seal 477 827 529 A

there will most likely be more but these will do for now, if someone can kindly confirm that I have these numbers right, I'll ask my son to place an order.

Also, if I have forgotten anything associated with the above parts.

Kind regards

Pete

Don't wish to pretend any 944 expertise, but is your friendly PC parts man worth a call .. ? I fondly remember Ted @ Silverstone being a mine of knowledge !

You are using the pdf PET from Porsche Classic ? Revisions of parts by MY are clearly listed ..

cheeerrs, Maurice

Hi Maurice..yes I have had good service myself from my local Porsche dealer. However, in this case my son is going to order the parts and I want to make sure that I give him the correct part numbers. He's a busy lad and won't have time to discuss what's what

Kind regards

Pete

Just a thought

I changed all the seals on my car with original Porsche items but when it came to the door seals I fitted 968 seals they fit better and look better ....IMO

Thanks for the suggestion....I'll probably stick to the correct seals...most are probably the same but the window scrapers look specific to early cars..ie up to 86. 87 being different.

I gave the list to my son today which Martin kindly sorted for me slong with prices My son has a trade account with Porsche so we'll see what the terms are, if all else fails I could always take advantage of my club discount, something I have yet to do.
Had a long chat with my son's business partner, he who does the spraying. We decided on paint and a ceramic clear coat, plus some new primer which evidently is impossible for rust to form, or so the spec states
Just need to wait for the parts and for my son to fit the car in, I'll probably spend most days helping to prep the car. Wheels will be done too, my son has just had installed a new all singing water jet blaster, it gives an unbelievable finish...should sort the wheels out pretty quickly.

Hi Pete, that window scrapper number, was that the right code? I might get a couple myself as they've looked a bit knackered for years...(not handed?)
Window sealing strip outer 477 837 470 A x2

Hi Phil

Sorry for the late reply... Martin has updated that part number to PCG 837 470 A
Be aware that this part changed 86-87 so you may need to use your VIN number to be sure. I bought the later type many years ago and still have them as they don't fit, the early cars had different seals, look better made to me.

Thanks Pete, I'm assuming mine is the same as yours as they are both Cplates. My production completion date was 16/04/1986 (nearly 36 years old, only 4 more years to tax exempt!) but I'll use the VIN to be sure if I get round to ordering a pair.

Yes I would assume them to be the same. .mine is 36 next week, 3/3/86 .. lost a lot of coolant today...after a short panic I could see/feel that the matrix pipe seals had finally failed completely...my son has new seals ready to go in, I got a used matrix including the entire heater box of ebay a couple of months ag so I think we may have the parts required...I know my son bought the plastic clips too. I just need him to find space for the car now...fingers crossed not too long...:)

Be aware that when you replace the door seals with nice new items that satisfying clunk of shutting a 944 door goes away. They are a lot "springier” than the old ones and the door bounces back open unless you give it a decent slam. :p

Pete

If you have no need for the later seals, I will have them off you as they should be the same as a 968

The 968 door seals are now £180 a side, bit of a big bill for two bits of rubber

Just to update this thread, thanks to Martin's list and a few that I added later, the parts are now ordered, amazingly all parts are still available? Should be with me in about a week, some parts need to come from Germany.
Thank's everyone and a big thank's to Martin.

Cheers
