Concealed bonnet release - question

In the September issue of PP Ken asked how to access the concealed emergency bonnet release cable which is situated behind the front bumper.

It can be accessed by unscrewing the nearside indicator lens securing screw and then just pulling the lens away, then you should be able to locate the cable through the hole.
 
Can't remember for sure Stu, I found that cable when removing the front PU last year and I think I did not see it until I had also removed the driving light as well as the indicator. Not difficult to remove, just a couple of phillips head screws.

Might as well also mention the emergency boot release cable that's hidden behind the black plastic grill in the B pillar passenger side - the grill release catch is at the top of the grill.

Probably tends to move around a bit over the years. Ken suggested his was in the middle of the PU but I've never seen one that long before.

just been rethinking this from memory, isn't/shouldn't it be on the nearside coming from the bonnet catch direction, the release handle in the car is on that side. I think mine was on the nearside.
 
i think you guys are right - i just put it back where it was when i took the stuff off - looking at the photos again it makes more sense to have it the other way
 
if thats's correct Jake, which I think it is, yours would have had to pull round a 180 degree corner, maybe somebody has had the PU off in a previous life and not known what the cable was and just 'tucked' it away across the front.
