Competition Time.

Righto People, the fault was down to something unrelated to my turbo strip down in the end, it just so happens (called sods law) that this particular fault has occurred with this faulty item and completely threw me as i was concentrating on what i had pulled off the car then replaced.
The backfire may have also been partly due to this fault also as this could be caused by a collection of unburnt fuel in the cylinders suddenly being ignited ?

Looks as though it was connected to ignition !!

C'Mon Lads....................easy peasy [:D]

Not sure if this has already been mentioned but it is not really ideal to place your wideband sensor in the crossover. It should be located downstream of the turbo about 50cm away from the outlet.

Still no right answers.

Nick moved away from the turbo to the bottom of the turbo outlet away from excessive heat which cooks the lambda it will still give correct readings if airtight, it will even give correct reading if placed further back again if airtight.

You lot will have your head in your hands when i come out with the problem...........G18 ?

Tony your right, mind you it may be G5 slot, i was convinced that it was something i had taken off and refitted, i just changed it on the off chance and hey presto !

Tony send me your address by PM and your prize will be posted off to you.

Anyone up for another competition ! if so i will set another question 944 related ?

Thanks! You made it too easy - funny when we started back on the early days of titanic the answer always used to be 'DME relay' rarely the problem these days, guess they all got replaced!

glad you found the issue anyway.

Well done Tony.

James, I was extra curious because my car was occasionally doing the same thing.

I pulled the DME and it was dated 11 87 ....[&:]

Onto e-bay, porscha-part had them available, next day it arrived, and what do you think, the tick-over is perfect again, the hesitation under load is gone, the engine is sweeter.....

I would never have guessed........thanks and well done again for finding it[:)]

Credit where its due, the germans are useless at electrical engineering. Whats the next test?
