CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER

IMHO I would replac the master cylinder an whilst you're in there replace the slave cylinder and the flexi line that goes from the master to the hard line at the back of the camcorder. If u don't its false economy as both will need doing in the near future ! Yours Chris

Hi Guys, does anyone know of a seal repair kit for the clutch master cylinder ?, I have spoken to Porsche & they don't list one, just wondered if anyone knows of an aftermarket company producing them, I have a small weep coming from mine & although not bad at the moment I want to cure it before too long, cheers, Jinxy

Cheers guys for the replies, after a call to the ever helpful Warren at Porsch-apart it seems there is no seal kit available for the master cylinder, but there is one for the slave ??? so on that basis it seems a new replacement is the only option, I do know that a short while before I bought the car the slave cylinder was replaced, which seem the likely culprit for the master cylinder leaking, the extra pressure of the new slave cylinder was probably enough to finally finish it off. At a price of around £80 for a new master cylinder its not going to break the bank, but I will probably have to do a few trips to the supermarket with the other half & handbag shopping just to please her ladyship first [:D], cheers, Jinxy

It's from a Merc W124, in the alternate parts listing. [:)]
Are you referring to a seal kit or the actual master cylinder ? whats a Mercedes W124 ? cheers, jinxy

The seal for the slave, it's a common part. It's all in the alternate parts faq.

Cheers Paul, its not the slave one I need but the master cylinder, it actually says Master cylinder gasket ?? in the alt parts list, rather than seal kit, so im a bit dubious as to what you actually get, cheers, Jinxy

From reading the list, I'd say there isn't a kit for the master, but there is one for the slave that's the same as the Merc one, with some adjusting. Either way, I was trying to point out why there is a kit for the slave, but not the master; the slave is a common part. Personally, I'd say both cylinders are cheap enough to warrant replacing with new, and not rebuilding. The labour is not worth it if you have to go back and fix it again!

Yeah I think that's the route that im going to have to go down Paul, it doesn't look a complicated job to do & I think that most of the time will be taken up trying to remove it due to poor accessibility, chances are that this is an original part from 1989 when the car was new so I think its lasted well if im honest., cheers, Jinx
