Cleaning and Re-Dyeing carpet

So I have my seats out to fix my door wiring (!) and the rear panels and some carpet in order to re-wire the speakers etc (I seem to be creating new jobs at some kind of exponential rate) all this has exposed just how awful my linen carpet is. Obviously I need to clean it with some kind of steam clean or carpet shampoo and was also thinking about recolouring the carpet as I remember reading stories from some guys who had black carpet and found a new dye made a dramatic difference.

Any advice on the best way to clean the carpet - it will not be in the car so this would help with my ability to wash it in the bath etc, and does anyone have advice on carpet dye - good brands or techniques to use?
 
Use pressure washer to clean it up. Check out my son's project thread. We used Valeters Pride which Jon Mitchell kindly sent us.

Carpet cleaning machine from Johnsons dry cleaners about £25 a day plus shampoo. Clean the hall carpet at the same time and keep in the good books with the missus at the same time [:D]

I've used soda crystals in warm water to good effect to clean the boot carpet (mine's linen as well) - splashing the soda solution on and scrubbing it with a large scrubbing brush. I'm planning to take the whole of the carpet out of my car this summer and clean it properly, so will be starting with this and seeing how I get on.

My plan will be a good scrub all over and then a jetwash to finish, leaving it in some summer sun (if we get any). Carpets take a while to dry (and dry much better if you hang them from something, as the water then drips out of the lowest point - much quicker than drying them flat).

I even removed all the algae from my sunroof seal and door window seals !
I've cleaned the cooker , bath tiles, washing machine powder drawer, and will be doing the stair carpet Monday.

blush........... I keep forgetting ...a lot of you probably don't know I'm a house-husband these days having . taken early retirement to care for my Father full time. he is 90 disabled and has dementia.
You'd be amazed how much work it is to cook, hoover, clean, wash, shop, budget and manage a household .[:D]
Must dash ....got to hoover the kitchen lol............


ps why is your S2 in bits Colin ? or is that a sore point [;)]
