Classics at the Castle 10th June

Hi Rich,
Might have to make you 912 Marshall if you go, I think I will be working that weekend.
Here's hoping Fudge will be back from the Doctors by then!
Let me know if you fancy it.
Cheers

Mark . . . . saw the pictures of your car on a lorry . . . . what went wrong . . . . nothing serious I hope . . . engine?

Poss valve guide , poss ring poss cracked head..

Still driveable.. just not for long distance or ANY down hills...

So will pull the engine later in the week..

I missed driving out in the high lands so I will be going back...

Just Jo will not come in the car with me.. :-( again on a long run..

Feel for you . . . . . Jo 100% anti classic Porsches now I suppose . . . oh well at least you've still got the faith.

Phil

Not sure about the faith any more, thinking of selling the lot and buying a commerical property, going back to investing my money rather than playing with it.. Poss buying a 3000+ sqft unit with freehold in Fareham to rent out. This engine failer could just be the kick up the arse I need, to stop playing and get back to real work..

Looks like my rings have gone.. great stuff not!! like when am I going to get a spare 25hrs to fix this!! and the 500 miles to run them in.. NOT Silverstone my birthday treat is up in smoke £175 worth of it..[8|]

Yep Jo's 100% off the cars but since I want to sell them she suddenly wants me to keep the 912. I think they call this womens logic [&:]. So yes not looking good I just feel I have come to the end of the road with the cars. I did this with sailing and my cycling..enjoy it while it lasts and then there comes a point you just can't seam to see beyound..

That's depressing [:(]. . . . I'd rather have an old porshce than an industrial unit . . . but I can see why you might be fed up.

Chin up mate . . . worse things happen at sea . . . go and make yourself a cup of tea . . . that'll make it better.

Phil

Afternoon all,

I have to say, I got back from the Classics at the Castle meeting and found myself all revived again and inspired to pay extra attention to my '67 Blood Orange 912.
I am now looking to book her in for a carb rebuild (not cheep I hear) as she could do with it then I would hope to be using her a little more.
A big thank you to the organisers and it was great to put a few faces to names.

Thanks all,
Dan...

Glad you had a good time Dan, events and lack of car conspired against me getting there... oh well next year!

Carburetor Exchange are the folk to do your (Solexes?) if you can take them off then sure will be cheaper. Fitting them and setting them up is another matter.
(Mark did have some issues I think with these guys but I think they were eventually resolved)

Was a really good day - I couldn't believe it when I saw 5 orange '12s on the display, thought the sun must have gone to my head!!

Some truly lovely 356s there

Just to keep you going.
Here is a link to a few images from the day on flickr.

It was the first classic meet I have been to since owning my 69' for 2 years and I will certainly be doing it again. I just realised how friendly everyone is and how much advice you can get from just talking to other owners. (thanks to the 912 owner from cardiff)

I have loads of images and will upload more if anyone is interested. Also, if you want the originals I can mail them to you. (They are massive though)

"¦"¦. i fell in love with yet another shade of Brown from Porsche. Sepia Brown looks so good you could almost drink it [8D] {or maybe at least lick it.}

I just fell in love with Sepia brown too, when I saw one for sale with a French dealer two days ago, fresh out of a nut+bolt restoration. Bought it yesterday! I will lick it dry after every wash...
