Cheeky Mrs Mas only took the Porsche out !

Any why ? , the Rover has a duff fuel pump (so I have her main car) , she went to get in to our super dependable spare car Volvo and the battery was dead. Not the Volvo's fault as I suspect the time has well passed for a new battery.

So what did Mrs Mas do , slipped in to the garage disconnected the C-TEC and took the 944 out to the doctor's in the wet too !

To add to the cheek of it [] her comment re driving the car

" I wouldn't drive it through choice its not very comfortable for me and its heavy to drive "

I particularly like the wouldn't choose to drive it bit that suits me down to the ground [8|]

Last time Mrs zcacogp drove the 944 was after a day out at Goodwood and I had a nasty headache, so she drove home.

She's about 4ft9 and slight in build, so I adjusted the seat for her, fired up the satnav and stuck it to the windscreen, told her to follow the arrow and went to sleep in the passenger seat ...

... and woke up an hour later to find us in the fast lane of the M25, with the speedometer some long way into three digits, racing a BMW! [8D]

Having complete confidence in my wife I turned over and dozed off again. Good girl!

When we first bought the 968 coupe in late 1998, it was our main car and my wife drove it a lot - and loved it. Over the years our "second car" got better and we used it more and more so the 968 became a weekend toy, but she still enjoyed driving it.

Last year I swopped the coupe for a cab - still tiptronic so not a lot of difference. However, herself has driven it once (I'd had a few pints so thought it wise to let her drive) and does not like it at all!![][]

Mrs S was unable to even disengage the handbrake when I asked her to move the car on my behalf! Can't see her using it, EVER!

Mrs Scam once piloted my 44 down to Stranraer on a trip to the in laws as I was rather still over the limit from the previous evenings festivities. It was a bit damp underfoot in places and I was trying to explain safely bringing it on and off boost in the right places. Needn't have bothered, first time she brought it on boost she said weeeeee!! and after that i think overtook about 50 cars in 2 hours.

Had to trade in her 1 litre Corsa soon after for a 4mo 2.8 golf. A much more paletable carrier for us and our little son!!

I have a post which usually inspires a great memory in just about 'everybody' but its not actually 944 related, maybe i will have to '944 re word it' []

The best way to stop a wife driving your car?................

Fix the bucket seat in your position (if she`s shorter the pedals are too far away) []

Fit harnesses with quick release buckles (if she`s large of chest she wont see it) [8|]

Remove all sound proofing []

Tell her not to forget to turn on the main and secondary fuel pumps (and hidden security switch) [8D]

Give her a pair of earplugs and a list as to how to start it (like in an aircraft) []

Tell her if the rear brakes start to lock in the wet and the rear starts to overtake the front then dont panic - simply remember which way to turn the bias valve []

Tell her she must monitor the oil temp and pressure gauges all the time and if the really really big red light in between them comes on to immediately de-clutch, stop the engine and pull over immediately []

Works every time for some reason [8|]

My wife wouldn't drive the Square dash (too heavy with no PAS) but she did drive the 2.7 around the block when I got it 2 years ago, not driven it since despite various offers but did offer to drive home from a presentation evening on Saturday, (not required as it happened)

Jayne, avoids going in them whenever possible, says the 220 seats make her sit too low in the car, the Turbo S terrifies her when on mid range overtaking boost,basically dislikes them added to the amount of time i spend on them []
As regards driving them she has never even thought about it, plus the car would be examined inch by inch afterwards.
I find another dint on her Zafira everytime i wash it !!!
The only sporty car she ever liked was a little Peugoet 205 1.9 GTI...............she loved it, as did i, would definately have another and find myself looking now and again.

My wife doesn't tend to drive the 944 except when hers is in for service - rather that than my old Range Rover it seems.
However when we took her Subaru to York a while back she drove most of the way and we seemed to arrive quite quickly!

No such problems at my place - my wife only has a licence to drive an auto (having "learned" to drive in London). This means she gets the choice of the Range Rover Supercharged, Mini Cooper Cabrio or the 996, and me with the added extra men-only toys including the 951. Which suits me just fine.

Talking of which, I was late to collect my eldest daughter from school this evening, so was forced to use a heavy foot despite a days worth of rain sitting on the road. Which I couldn't see because it was dark. Anyway, even with all 320 horses being regularly deployed, the grip was astonishing. I'd never had Vredstein Asymetric tyres before, but I have to say they were very impressive this evening. I now thoroughly recommend them for their performance (whereas I originally chose them purely because the pattern looked cool!). But probable a bit unnecessary on any n/a 944[]

I let the girlfriend drive my 2.7 944 last weekend back from the shops, shes an excellent driver, her everyday car is a mid engined MR2 MK1, the only drawback to letting her drive was the kargarooing down the road for the 1st 500 yards ( whiplash to prove it LOL !!) saying the clutch was heavy & her innability to release the handbrake ( took her at least a minute to find it LOL !! ), mind you, it didnt take her long to nip into the outside lane & pass every car that passed us while we were Kangerooing down the road minutes earlier, would i let her drive it again ?............ yes...if only to see the faces of the people we pass after we Kargeroo again LOL !!, Jinxy
