I have started a thread on the Events section to try to get the attention of the organisers regarding a display or area for 944's at the National Event.
Please post your support there or even here if you would want to attend/display. Any 944 doesn't need to be show car.

Alan.

I'd love to but my car won't be back on the road for some time yet plus I'm no longer a club member so wouldn't qualify, doubt I'll rejoin but you never know. In the old days though (member for over 10 years) I used to be very active and had some fun although most of this was due to friends made on the Titanic forum. Hope those that do attend have fun....:)

Hi Pete,
I've now been a member for 15+ years and enjoy affliliation to R24 Cambs and Beds although living out of 'area'.
I've had some great times with R24 (and other) events but I know what you mean about the original Titanic friends.
I shall never forget the Lakes and Fells trip which was when I first met you, and several others.
The Hastings meets were also great fun.
As I am no longer a 944 owner I have tended to miss more recent meets but I could always park at the back of the car-parks!
Although the 993 forum has some interesting content, it is still the 944 crowd which appears to offer the greatest comradery.
Best wishes,

I would be happy to provide my car although with the Olympics coming getting any time off at present is proving very, very difficult. Once I know what shift I will be working I will let you know.

Hi Chris

Good to hear from you, yes the Lakes trip was a very special event, it was a lot of fun. I became involved with Titanic after the PCGB Basildon concourse in 98 which was my first club event not counting R20 meets. The thing about Titanic was it's independence from PCGB and Tipec yet it attended both club events, I remember seeing you at the Tipec monthly meets in Iver at the Crooked Billet.
Btw I saw you ( I think) at a Croxley green classic car meet 2-3 years ago, I got there late so the car was parked near the pub and you were just leaving in you 993. I go to both local classics on the green meets, the other being Harpenden.
Hopefully once my cars back on the road we'll meet again at such an event...:)

Regards

Pete

We can only get Paul to push this for us if we have a good response from people wanting to attend, so who wants it to happen?

So far,

Alan (loc944)
Paul
Steve (sr.944man)

I'll go for that.Car should be done well before then.2 weeks till paint.so much to do before that

I have had a reply from Peter Bull on the Events section explaining that they are short of space for cars on the tarmac area, though it may be possible to have a grassed area for Display.

Paul, he said to speak to you direct about this or have you discussed it with him already.

It is starting to sound more positive now, so here's hoping.

Alan.

Hi Alan

What I actiually said was to contact the Register Director - but of course Paul would be the ideal man to co-ordinate the 944 display as he is the Register Sercretary. But being the busy man he is, he may wish to share the burden of this task with someone else.

Hoep it all works out.

Paul has already discussed this issue in one of the other threads about the 30th anniversary, namely

We have tried to get support for 944 displays at the major Club events as well, but apparently we are limited to a few cars at Chateau Impney. If you'd like to see more cars on display, or have any suggestions as to where we can get the cars together, then please let the event organisers know. I can't do anything other than suggest you all speak to the Register Director and ask him to give us some help, but please bear in mind that the current RD isn't responsible for the lack of support we've had over the last few years. []

That doesn't sound too hopeful.

I could be available for Saturday at Chateau Impney. Basically, if there's a 944 Register display to support I will turn up, but if not there's an event with my local car club I'd rather do.

I am otherwise engaged on the Sunday.

Hi Alan, It's Alan Armstrong. Details under "Cayman" in Porschefile.

It sounds like we'll have a grass area we can do what we want with, so let's just have one big parking area with all the 944s together. Hopefully not hidden round the back somewhere! [:D]

There's not really any organising to do, I'll be there anyway. I could do with a few people offering to do an hour or so "manning" the area though. I think it's important that new arrivals are met, rather than just directed to an area to park in only to find it abandoned. I will be needing to leave it for essential breaks.

But isn't that what we normally do? This isn't aimed at you Paul but it would be nice if the club could make the slightest bit of effort for the 944 30th.

Hi Edd,

I can't disagree. Why not get in touch with the Register Director and discuss it? I would have loved a proper display, but I've only been offered three spots in a generic "front-engined" line-up. [&o]

its a shame you have to be a paid up member to goto the 30th as im sure there would be plenty of people wanting to go, I just cant justify the membership fee or id be going. shame.
