Changing tagline

Hello 924 owners. I want to replace the tagline on the 924 area link from:
"Not only a 924, but a Porsche 924..." to something else.

So far I've come up with:
"The Boxster of its day." or "Father of the 944." or even "The watercooled revolution"

If you think of another tagline post it here, once we have a few more I will go with the consensus of opinion in a poll.

I like the quotation: " ... the best handling Porsche in stock form." - J. Pasha, Excellence

I don't have any date / bibliographical reference for it, though.

You're right! You're absolutely right! In fact, if we could just show the side profile of the 924, that would say enough!

"The first transaxle Porsche" - a bit dry and uninformative, perhaps?

And inacqurate. The 928 pre dated the 924 as a design.

Can you give us some insight into the 928 development time scales, when were prototypes running etc.

I have not read up at all on the 928's development programme.

I can do better than that. I can reccomend a book produced by our own 928 Register Secretary, David Hemmings, home phone number 01925 751436.
This is a worthwile publication and inexpensive.

Hello Geoff
Far be it from me to doubt you [;)] but in the Michael Cotton book 'Porsche 924,944 & 968' page 16 it says "First sighting of Porsche's new transaxle system was in 1975 when the 924 was announced"

Paul.
The 928 was DESIGNED before the 924 (as per my post) but the 924 was on sale just before it.
Don't forget that the 924 was designed as a FRONT WHEEL DRIVE car for Volkwagen and only became a Porsche, with modifications, after VW pulled out of the deal. Porsche purchased the basic design back.

There is a widely held beleif that there was some massaging of model numbers to make the 4 cylinder car the 924 and the 8 cylinder car the 928. [8|]

"The first produced transaxle Porsche" then?

Or there's the introduction on the Porsche website:
"The little Porsche with advanced engineering"

Also from the Porsche website:
"By the end of 1977 the 924 had become one of the most purchased sports cars in the world"
and: "most asked-for sports car that Porsche has ever developed" (from a Porsche press release)
