Hi, need your help please, after three months of not using the car checked yesterday and found the battery completely dead so dead that could not open the front hood to check.
Followed the procedure in the handbook after a while manged to open the hood , measured the voltage it was 0.
Tried to charge using MX5.0 in situ , it just didn't want to know , so took the battery out, tried with the old fashion battery charger after two hours the battery came to life went back to MX5.0 charger and now rebuilding the battery.
In the 911 driver 's manual there is a brief instruction "Putting the vehicle into operation" is this all I have do or there is more to do .
Thank you
Ali

I recently replaced my battery and the only issues I had was a PSM warning that goes away after driving for 5 minutes and steering angle warning - 2or 3 turns left and right full lock and a drive sorted that. You may have to reset the windows as they can loose their position for opening and closing doors but mine was ok. Also mine is a pretty basic spec.

Personally I would replace your battery if it has been completely dead as you will probably have to do this again. Worth the £120 for a replacement.

Thank you for your reply, good advice will buy a new battery rather than have a unreliable battery.
Thank you again for your reply.

I would see how the old battery fares with being hooked up to the CTEK daily.
My 987 Boxster battery lasted 7 years before needing to be replaced.

I now keep the Macan hooked up via the 12v socket in the boot.

Worth leaving it on the "recondition" program for a few days, then put it back on 'normal'

I also have a NOCO GB1000A portable jump starter. (about £80)
Fantastic bit of kit that is, has saved me a couple of times in the daily, and a couple of times when I had forgotten to put the Boxster on charge.
I've even helped complete strangers out in car parks who had left their lights on and drained their batteries 😄

Two pieces of electronic wizardry I wouldn't be without.

Thank you for your reply, what concerns me is that the battery had gone to Zero I have never seen this before.
Given circumstances, will buy new Bosch Battery and have confidence in starting the procedure.
I will give this battery at the end of its rebuild for emergency.
Thank you

I replaced battery like for like.

Bosch S5

First one lasted 7 yr so I was happy that the new one would be just as good.

I contacted Costco who are Bosch reseller for Bosch Batteries and Michelin tyres.
They asked if it start stop , which mine is not, they gave S4008 part code as the compatible battery.
Thank you

Hi all, replaced the battery as mentioned in the manual.
A bit of issue with windows, radio and central locking , all went away as soon as the car was put in drive
As suggested the fault "PSM Failure" appeared that went away after couple of miles.
Thank you for your help
