Central Locking Issue Help

Hi All

Tried to open my car this evening but the central locking would only open the passenger door. Tried the emergency key but to no avail. Boot would open and could open the roof (cabriolet). Had to climb over from passenger seat to start the car. Started OK but "system error" showed. Managed to drive car into garage (has to be in at night for insurance purposes) but could not open the drivers door.

Any advice would be helpful. Think I may call Porsche Assistance tomorrow as just going out to meet friends. Thank goodness for the Rangie.

 
Managed to get the door open. The manual says turn the key anticlockwise which did not work. Turning key clockwise did open the door but central locking not working on drivers door!!

The manual seems set up for left hand drive cars. Is this the same for the fuses. There is a fuse box in front of each door. Is the set up for the fuses the same for left and right hand drive cars or are the juxtaposed for right hand cars?

 
Does sound like a OPC fix Jonathan, the fact that you've got the door open via the lock, yet still the central not working is odd. When i hadn't used the car for a few weeks earlier in the year, I had to unlock with the key, but then all returned to life as normal. This is not the same,obviously. No help on the fuses, I'm afraid.

Do you think there is any point in disconnecting the battery for say an hour and then reconnecting? Like a reboot. It is going to be a bit of a hassle to get to the OPC this week!
 
I really would avoid that as it can cause more problems than it solves. Worth speaking to them first in case there's a known easy fix.
 
I don't know whether you saw my posts on electronic issues but my 991 C2S has a number of such issues, eighteen to date! DO NOT disconnect the battery and get the car to your OPC as soon as possible. Mine has had similar issues for six months now the most serious of which was it's sunroof and windows opening of their own accord on a very wet, rainy night[:(]. As yet the Porsche system has failed to isolate the problem but suspect it is in the 'soft ' ECU ie the one that controls everything but those that might kill you. If it is any reassurance most of the issues have occured once or twice and then never again, which has made it very difficult to trace or solve. Hope this helps

Phoned my OPC and suggested I could bring the car in this afternoon but I would have no way of getting home. The service advisor told me to contact Porsche Assistance. I did at about 8.45am and asked for the car to be collected at about 4.00pm. I used my other car to get to work and would be home by about 3.30. They were supposed to phone me at about 3.40pm but did not until about 4.10 when the low loader chap told me he was delayed and would be with me at 4.45. at 4.50 got another call from him saying he was further delayed and could not get the car to the OPC before closing so he suggested collecting tomorrow morning.

Reluctantly I agreed to tomorrow as I will not be available to hand the car over - my wife will do that. By the time the car gets to the OPC another day will be lost! I do not need a courtesy car, just my own car to use when I want.

Should I complain to Porsche Assistance??
 
Yes, complain to Porsche Assistance. We pay a premium price for the service and should expect it to be delivered.

I assume the problem was caused by the fact RAC no longer have a dedicated Porsche recovery service.
 
I do not to be a damp squib but my issues have gone on for six months with still no answer or solution! The Porsche conglomerate chain (I have written to CEO Germany and GB) seem to think that the product is good and it is all down to me!! They have not been overly helpful. At last, we are moving towards a solution but it has been hard work, so keep pressing. If it helps my car has been with OPC Bournemouth. Good Luck [8|]
 
My OPC had the car for 3 days and returned it to me last Friday just in time for me to have it detailed on Saturday. Mark of Atenntionto detail has done a wonderful job and so far I have not had any further central locking issues.

However occasionally I get a warning sign that the oil pressure has developed a fault!. The pressure gauge stops working and if I turn the ignition off for about 5 minutes everything is back to normal.

The electronics seem to be rather temperamental to say the least.

Have you spelt the detailers name correctly?, can't seem to find them on Google.

So far this week electrics have been working faultlessly.

However took the car into Hampstead last night and it was the object of a vicious bird attack. Bird doo doo everywhere. Thanks to the nano application applied by my detailer most washed off without a mark but those on the hot engine lid and rear apron have caused some etching. UGH!!

Are you still having problems with your electrics still?

Yes some still ongoing but the driving experience is unaffected I'm pleased to say
 
Spoke to my service chap when booking cruise control fitting and he said the problem with the central locking required "reprogramming". Still so far all OK except for intermittent non-functioning of oil pressure gauge.
