Center console fix

New member
One of the nigles on my 968 is the center console. The rear recessed slots had cracked up, and no longer held it down.
A previous owner had 'fixed' it by using a couple of pennywashers and screws.
I forgot to take a before photo, but this caused the rubber inlay to ride up and move about.
My car is never likely to be a conours winner, its for driving, so Ive fixed it:

The problem, old plastic has cracked up, possibly through overtightening the retaining screws at some point.
You can make out the rings left by the penny washers.

So cut off the remains, its broken and just in the way. Ive also roughed up the surface with some 200 grit to help the glue stick.

I seem to have forgotten to take any pictures of the next bit.
Basically I lined up the holes in the penny washers by eye, having noted the marks they left on the top surface, and then roughed them up and epoxyed them in place.

Great job. [:)]

I won't tell you that a new one is less than a tenner, post included, from Exeter PC. The insert cost me about £8 though, which I thought was expensive. No pleasing me! [:D]

Hmm, £10. I might invest in one at some point then.
But it took longer to write about than to fix, and as I had free time (and its only cost me some glue) on a sunday Im still happy [:)]
