CDR 23 to Dension Gateway

My CDR 23 is playing up and making a rattling noise when alarm deactivated and on power down. when cd pressed the screen displays "STOP" . I then have to turn alarm on and off several times before it will play a cd. Is anyone familiar with this fault or know a fix please.

Also Im considering the Dension Gateway to allow iPod integration. My CDR 23 does not have multiplay cd with it , just the single head unit with no aux button . Anyone know if the Gateway will work ok with this set up.

Im taking car to Street Sounds in Brighton tomorrow but would welcome some advice so I don't turn up "blind"

Thanks

I'm not sure about the 'STOP' message, but it sounds like the DME and CDR23 are having trouble communicating the security code. The codes are stored in each, and a check is done when you switch on the ignition. A diagnostic check might show up what is wrong, but I seem to recall some procedure for resetting it. Hopefully Nick_USA might drop by, as he is good at this stuff.

The Dension will allow you to connect an IPod by emulating a CD changer. You will have to have the car's Gateway coded to add a CDC unit. Also bear in mind that the iPod navigation can take some getting used to. There isn't much else available though. If you don't have Bose, you might be better to fit an aftermarket stereo.

Thanks Richard. I suggested a swap out to Alpine but Street Sounds said id be mad as the CDR 23 is an expensive bit of kit and far better than looks suggest. Not so sure myself tho I must say that since I pit Focals in doors it is sounding much sweeter. Im going to make sure they are familiar with this system before they start work, otherwise think Ill pop it up to Paragon who I think Ill need anyway for pwis to change cd setting. I miss the days of insulating tape and teeth myself ;-)

I have the Gateway fitted in my 04 4S PCM and live just spitting distance of Paragon. If you wanted to see how mine was installed and where everything went then don't hesitate to pop by if you do make the trip.

( If you do, I'll get you to help me with my hard top as a fellow Cab owner. Just lately things haven't gone well with hard top fitting!)
