"With a power cap placed on the Cayman and slowish sales, hopes are being pinned on a lightweight RS version. Original plans for a lightweight Boxster now look likely to be ditched for the slimline Cayman instead.
An insider told Autocar that there wouldn't be a motorsport programme for the Cayman.
The 911 must remain the icon he said. So wave goodbye to bigger engines. But he admitted independent tuners would build hot Caymans, so expect hot versions from a reputable tuning house with Porsche's quiet acknowledgement. A Targa roofed Cayman is also under consideration"
