Cayman S gen1 exhaust query

I've got these exhausts sitting in the garage, they came of my 2007 Cayman S (I no longer own). They are nice and quiet like standard but I noticed the welded plates as you can see in the pic.

Modification or repair?

Really interesting. We also tried opening up an exhaust to remove internal sections / baffles to improve noise. The result was lots of effort and very little improvement. I would suspect someone has tried the same. This may explain why you did not notice much difference.

some one cut the cats out of those.

gen 1 cars had 2 cats in the manifold and 2 in the rear, it was a nice mod to delete the 2 rear cats.

 
Carnewal do an exhaust mod for these. I too have a set of exhausts in my loft waiting for someone to mod them...came off a 987S.

Stephen, they were replaced by an exhaust by a company called "Tubi" and it really did sound fantastic! I no longer have the car as I traded it in but strangely a friend of mine still does! Nicest sounding cayman I've heard is my very biased opinion!

I've still got this exhaust though so I'm looking to sell it on if possible to clear some space :)

The car passed MOT's easily with this exhaust or the Tubi by the way, good emissions with either due to the CAT's at the manifold. 4 CAT's on the standard car, crazy!

I got a Boxster manifold repaired a few weeks ago and the company that did the repair are far more capable than just repairing existing cracked items, they can design and manufacture one off systems for road or track in case someone wants such an item [link]http://www.jacexhausts.co.uk[/link]
