Cayman remote fob

One of my remote fobs has stopped working. The battery is ok and there is no red led, so I guess the electronics have given up the ghost. I'd be grateful for suggestions as to where to get a replacment at a sensible price.

Is it correct that if you use the key to unlock the door you then have 3 secs to get it in the ignition before the alarm goes off?

I assume the car is out of warranty, but how old is the car?

Whilst it may be out of warranty I would have though a key fob failure so soon may get some "help" from your local OPC. Or, did it get physiaclly damaged in an accident?

This may be what you want, from the 2007 manual page 29

Unlock the driver's door with the key at the
door lock. Open door within 20 seconds and
insert the ignition key into the ignition lock
within 10 seconds to prevent the alarm system
from being triggered.
Note on operation
If the door is not opened within approx. 20 seconds,
automatic relocking takes place. The alarm
system will be triggered by the next unlocking of
the door:
Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock to
switch off the alarm system.

Thanks for that suggestion, I'll visit them later this week. The car is early 2006 so really should not have failed in that time period. No damage to it that I can see, it's just dead.

At least there is a way around it should the working fob fail or, heaven forbid, I lose it. Don't like paying for a new one but it might be better to sort it out now than tempt fate later!
