Cayenne V8 Diesel Brake Pads.

Hi,
New to Porsche Club having recently purchased a 2015 Cayenne V8 Diesel. I've just had my first MOT and although passed, recommended replacing Brake Pads as 4mm front and 2mm rear. Thought they would need doing soon but not ready for the quote of £1,700!! I've owned Porsche's in the past and fully appreciate the brand comes at a cost but seems a little excessive.
Anybody any experience of looking at alternatives to main dealer or uprating to alternatives, i.e. Brembo

Welcome to the club.

That price includes the discs as well? Just had to have them done on our 2014 3l Diesel, but as we were renewing the Porsche warranty they had to be Porsche items. I did note that Brembo discs seem to be £100 a disc cheaper than Porsches (well I guess most peoples will be!!)

So I've no experience of using another brand, but personally I would be looking at Brembo or similar if we didn't have the warranty. Not sure where you are, but look at a Porsche Independent, unless you know a good local garage you'd trust, and see what they recommend /quote.

Also the Dealer should give you a discount if you ask nicely being a PCGB member, unless thats already in there.

They didn't mention Discs when at the dealership and I've got in touch to confirm if this is the case.
I'm in North Wales so no Independents locally

I know my Cayenne is considerably older, but I paid £1,500 last year for full set of discs and pads at main dealer with PCGB discount applied, so £1,700 sounds about right I'm afraid . [:(]

Porsche confirmed Discs and Pads and waiting to see what discount they will give me.
 
Theirs plenty of specialists just over the border ring one for a quote. Also your local.garage can do with OE parts from EUROCARPARTS. Remember that Cayenne would have been fitted with a variety of discs and pads over the years on the assembly line so.you should have a choice do a little google search for.recommendat ions.
 
Yes I wouldn't even consider Porsche OPC at those prices and it's such a simple process to change disks and pads (if you even need disks) that there is simply no need to use OPC unless you have some kind of warranty requirements?

Otherwise why not source them on EuroCar Parts or other similar options (CarParts4less appears to be their other almost identical website which is sometimes even more reasonable). Then you can bring those to your local/trusted fitter.
Brakes are pretty much the same in terms of complexity of replacement across all cars, unless carbon, so probably one for your local garage so long as you are comfortable with them and their reviews/service.

I'm fortunate to have mechanical engineering within my family, but if I didn't the above is what I would do.
