Contact Ricky Caesar, the 924 Carrera GT Register Secretary. What he doesn' t know about 924 GT... GTS and GTR isn' t worth knowing. [

Without a shadow of a doubt, the 968 will be far easier to live with then a cgt BUT they only made 75 RHD CGT's and it is a little bit of a sleeper just like the 911 2.7 RS was in the early 1980-ties.
Dave Botherill races a CGT and has an original LHD CGT in red: pictures on www.dbracing.org.uk and click on fleet.
If he is around, you might be able to meet up and gather further info as he also has a 924 turbo, 944 S2 etc etc.
Good luck!

Most days, I use my 924CGT to travel to work, however my journey is mainly on free-flowing A roads to which the car is perfectly suited. I've never found it a chore, but it is a 25 year old car so there are few points to consider. Bear in mind I have never driven a standard 924 or a 968, only a 944.
1) The front tyres are wider than your 924, so the non-assisted steering will be heavier in traffic.
2) They run quite hot in traffic, so only expect the feeble blower to blow hot in summer. You've still got electric windows though!! (Or you might even find one with the optional aircon still working?)
3) The dogleg box has a slow change from first to second, and in second the boost only starts to come on at 40-50 MPH, so by the time you've blown away the turbodiesel at the lights in the middle of town, you've just lost your licence!
4) The suspension is firm, and as with all 924's, torsional rigidlity is not to modern standards. You will learn to avoid every sunken manhole cover.
You should find it a sharper and more interesting drive than a 968 (perhaps even a CS) not least due to the less linear power delivery. In my opinion, the rounded styling makes the 968 look bulkier, which it is by a couple of hundred kilos.

The 924 GT is a much underrated car and I get far more looks when I'm in the GT than when I'm in the S2. Sticking my neck out I think the 924GT is the best looking front engined car Porsche ever made. The steering can be heavy in town, but my standard road car has huge levels of grip, and the centre of gravity is so much lower than the S2.
Come to Snetterton this weekend & we can have a chat

To be brutally honest i think its gonna have to be a cgt. The 968 is a great car but i think the 937 is far nicer. The cgt is going to be somthing thats going to just go up and up in value as well, which makes it a good investment too. hmm... a year seems far too long now! Thanks for the invitation to Snetterton, but im pretty busy with the whole easter sunday family thing.
Cheers,
Andy
