Hi all,

New PCGB member here & relatively new first time Porsche owner.

Purchased a Carmon Red C4S Manual last September and loving it so far.

Just wondering if anyone knew of the above car - previous owner, history or if there is any other C4S coupe in the same colour..

Previous owner seemed to think it was a 1 of 1 and doing some research myself I could only find evidence of a C4S Cab that came up for sale a few years ago.

Thanks for any info and looking forward to attending some 996 register events in the near future! :)

Hi Michal,

Welcome to the group, your car looks fabulous. I assume you mean Carmine Red? I have seen references to Carmona red in the USA and I'm guessing its the same colour, just with an American spelling? I will look at the 996 register best I can, as some owners register their cars just as "Red" which covers the whole spectrum of Porsche paint colours.

Best regards,

Tony Murphy

Hi Tony,

Thanks for offering to check that out for me.

It’s actually Carmon Red - Carmine Red is a completely different colour and a brighter red.

I believe this colour was named Carmon Red on the 2004-2005 996 Generation and then changed to Carmona Red for the 997 generation.

CarmonaRot is the german official name for it now.

Cheers

Micheal

Hi Micheal,

Thanks for confirming that. I must point out I'm at a distinct disadvantage on this subject, as I am Red / Green colour blind! as my wife will confirm as I've made a few wrong paint colour choices over the years!!

I will see what I can find regarding the car tomorrow.

Best regards,
Tony

😂 No worries Tony,

Thanks for checking that out.

Carmon must have been a special order colour, as it doesn't appear on the colour chart in the workshop manual. It has the look of a darker version of Arena Red to me. Lovely.
Thanks for posting that colour order list.. that’s really interesting.. I thought it was a standard colour but not many cars had ordered in it.

Is there a difference between special order colour and PTS? Or is it the same thing?

Micheal, after looking at the UK members database, as feared a lot of member just list their cars as "Red". I have however located a 996 Turbo listed as Carmone red and one turbo in Carmine red.
Thanks to Richard for his additional research above.

Best regards,
Tony

I remember Carmon Red appearing and Orient Red (my 986 factory order) disappearing. As the RX registration originates in the Reading area, maybe this was originally a "Porsche management" car or a Reading demonstrator.

Thanks for doing that search Tony - was worth a try.

Looking through some old posts it looked like a member with the name dpoynton had a 996 in Carmon Red also although that was some years ago.

Cheers

Yes the car was sold new by Porsche Reading in 2005 and looking through the catalogues it seems as though Carmon Red replaced Orient Red in 2004.
