I specified the Carbon Door Entry Guards as factory-fit options but was less than impressed with them when I collected my car. They seemed to have a dull, lifeless finish and some bubbling on the surface layer. I was going to mention this to my OPC at some point and get them replaced under warranty.
However, on my PDE day, I drove a Cayman S with carbon door entry guards and these were very shiny and looked fabulous. So over the weekend I took a closer look at mine and noticed a plastic adhesive covering on them! I removed this and it was stuck on pretty well as I guess it should have been removed either by the dealer or by me as soon as I collected the car. Some of the adhesive was left on the guards.
So, I polished the door entry guards with Autoglym Super Resin Polish and then treated them to a coat of P21S Carnauba Wax. The result? As good as new shiny carbon door entry guards! They look superb, particularly against the Seal Grey paintwork of my Cayman S.
So, if you have these and they look a bit dull then check that you have removed the protective plastic layer! Doh!
