Can Anyone Reccomend.....?

A little drive but you should drop it up to Milton Keynes to Promax they will lend you a car to go home in and they really know 944 turbos and will be able to make sure it is operating as it should be or if you want to release a horse or two will be able to tweak it.
Turbos are are quite specialist if you want it to run right.

JMG in Christchurch. Not close, but not too far either. And given that they have done the other upgrade work on this car, the continuity would make sense. And of course, I could pop over to remind myself of "the one that got away". But be prepared to be without the car for a while - they're not a while-u-wait kind of place. Well, not unless you have the patience of every Saint ever canonized.

Horley, not far from Gatwick. Nine Excellence, boss is Ken Napier who bought my 968 coupe, at least one of his mechs is ex Porsche Centre Mid Sussex / Rivervale Portslade and recognised my car having serviced it in the past.

Not always true - I had an alternator belt fitted after turning up one evening as they closed - was passing when it failed - and they did while I waited! I know some other jobs can take a long time especially if you are not nearby to drop in and check.

Promax have tuned 3 different turbos for me,all with good results,my race car did a whole season of racing being pounded, never missed a beat, their tuning is spot on in my book.Your car will be booked in and finished on time.I have used them and i rate them.

I can give a thumbs up for RPM too did a clutch in the snow for me whilst most people were not even bothering to try and get to work. Rang them on a tue, they took the car Wed and gave me it back friday in good working order :)

p.s. I'll also throw Hartech's name into the list of good known chaps if you're going to bother travelling as far as the other recommendations.

JMG do excellent work and reports but the rest really lets it down - far too much for me I'm afraid, I doubt they'll be a return visit,I simply don't have the time.

Thanks for all your helpful suggestions guys. Another late one at work for me today, i'm absolutely shagged. I'm going to take him to JMG for 48k service, belts and fluid change etc in the next few weeks. I am also going to have a chat with Promax about some serious tuning over the winter months. Great advice fellas. Many thanks and i will post pics at the weekend.

Pete - if you get to JMG in the next few weeks do get in touch and I'll meet you there. I'd love to see "my" old car again, and you may want to take my latest creation for a fling up the road. Could be fun. And I'd be interested to hear what Promax can offer as the next stage, so that we could compare it to Jon's offerings. Last time I was there he had a 3 lt Turbo and a 3.2 lt Turbo in, so perhaps we could see whether 400 bhp in a 944 is a sensible option after all!

Everyone needs to drive a 400hp 944 at some point. By the way which skyline did you own? I'd love it to be an R33 GTR as I've spent 7-8 years arguing/competing with his GTR with my various Porsche models. It's all in good fun and I actually have great respect for the car he's created now (which was quicker than my most recent 400hp 944[&o] ) but knowing someone traded their R33 for a 944 could make a good punchline for the next few weeks [;)]

DivineE, i had a R32 Gtr, 2.8 stroker, twin roller bearing turbo's, knife edge crank, tuftrided, nitrided, water injection, plumbed in anti lag, ported, gas flowed,650 horses and a partridge in a pear tree! It handled too. It was basicaly a hole in the road into which i poured money! Much prefer the 944 (at least i think i do). I'm not sure where the bonnet with the naco ducts came from, are these not standard fitments?

Ewan, i will let you know when i am going to JMG in the next few weeks, it would be nice to meet up with you.
I have posted some piccys on Northloop under "members cars and projects" but i cant seem to do it on here? It keeps coming up "file too large"?? Anyone got any ideas? Also, my posts on here keep getting deleted. I have left several posts on here since Saturday morning and now they have gone? Very confusing. Regards.

HOLY moly! 650hp in an R32. That thing must have been a missile. Would love to have experienced a ride in that! What was the engine life like at that power? I've poured more money than sanity could justify into many a tuning project, thought I'd learnt my lesson but now I've started tweaking the 996 too :/ I think if you're that way inclined you're never going to change.

From my many years of Porsche vs Nissan experience I've decided the Nissan (at least in my opinion) will never be as nice a place to spend a lot of time, nor as satisfying to do a cross continental blat. On the down side no Porsche engine note warms the blood in the same way as the Jap straight six and you dont get that super fast direction change 'flickability' of the Skyline. The best thing about the 944 though is when you hear a bad noise from the engine bay it's usually something small and inexpensive rather than a big end (as it seems to be with my friends cars) and that is a nice feeling. The 944 engine is basic and tough. Really tough!

p.s. On the photos I use www.photobucket.com and then link here using [ img ] [ /img ] works for me.

the picture size is tiny for direct upload to the forum (200k) there is a sticky somewhere in the main forum with advice, if you upload to photobucket or similar you can link them to here, and they will display - use the 'image' tab above or the mountain range icon depending on which browser you are using

Cheers Tony, i am going to try the photobucket route in a while mate. Divine, i know just what you mean mate about "if your that way inclined" regarding chucking dosh at performance car projects! Sarah and me really should be divorced by now and it would be all my fault! I just cant help it, it's the best drug of all!! The R32 Gtr was totaly insane and, the chap who bought it from me could'nt believe his luck! He came from Sweden to pick it up and to drive it back there. Said it was the best R32 he had ever seen and he wanted to take it further still! Drag racing no doubt. Not my idea of proper car racing because fun isnt a straight line. Can't wait to get stuck into the 944 turbo. I think this one could be a keeper coz i really fancy doing the business to this one. We'll have to wait and see. Regards.
