Cam cover gasket question

Hi

I am a new owner of a s2 Cab but it has a slight leak from the cam cover.

I have purchased a new gasket however, could anyone advise if its ok to just replace the gasket or do I need to use sealant on the corner areas too?

Thanks.

I would use sealant, and not only on corners.

While in there I would also replace the 4 seals for plug holes and the two seals for the plastic caps.

I presume that the S2 cam Cover doesn't require the belts to come off like an 8V one?
I had mine replaced twice last year and then realised the cam cover itself was cracked!

Quick (silly) question....I've not had my cam cover off (previous owner addressed just prior to my purchase). IIRC I read somewhere that these covers are resin composite material rather than metal. Also the oil pan is described as "plastic". Is this correct? If so - can the cam cover be powder coated or is painting the only option?

Thanks in advance for not ridiculing me[8|]

I have the gasket seals for spark plugs and bolts, not the plastic caps though!

Can anyone recommend a sealant?
