C4S OR EVO X FQ360???

Your views on the above please? Not sure if one is better than the other, I know one has more class than the other but as a drivers car.....? Based on both brand new (or close)
 
drive them both then you can form your own opinion, like comparing apples and oranges......pointless.....[:mad:] how can you base this on both being " brand new (or close)" when the C4S was last available new in 1998.....???????
 
From a financial point of view it`s a no brainer surely ??

EVO worth half it`s price now (if your lucky) in five years time, most Porsches of the 993 Era would hold up well in the next five years in comparison [:)]
 
I drive the x now and it's great in some areas but has a few bad points, I have owned a few nice cars in the past but never a porsche. I don't want to come over as someone who is brand loyal - I am not. I can only afford to run one car so it has to do all of the boring jobs as well as the odd blast. I don't know if I can stretch to the cost of servicing a porsche as the bills seem much higher than mitsubishi, has anyone gone from evo to porsche? I should have been more clear when I said brand new - I just meant with no wear and tear issues. I am new to the forum thing - sorry.
 
Aren't servicing costs high on an Evo? Oil change every few thousand miles etc.

If you need the car for daily use, i.e. carry large items in the boot and rear passengers it has to be the Evo. But, if you want to "drive" the car surely the 993. As has already been said, test drive a 993.

 
Good luck on your choice, a very difficult one unless you are a porsche enthusiast. I have a C2 cab and a second car for the wife as my 911 is my daily runner, 40 miles per day.
The EVO will certainly drink the fuel compared to the C4S. The C4S will always hold its money, only 6,948 produced between 1996 and 1998.
I am biased, but the C4S would be at the top of my list, purely on looks and the build quality.

A new 997 C4S might be more suitable for you ? That is a fantastic car without all the 993 issues (but without some of the 993 character) . What is your budget ? Don't know much about Evos, aren't they those modified four seaters driven by kids with their baseball caps on backwards ?

 
If you want practicality as well as fun, forget the "engine in the back" brigade and look at the front engined varieties, with performance to suit most pockets. A 928S will blow most cars off the road, a 968 or 944S2 has pretty good performance - and I can do the Tesco run (2 trolleys worth!) in my 968, carry holiday luggage for 2 - and remove the sunroof making the car close to a convertible!

I will now get thoroughly creamed by the hot air brigade as this is the 993 section!
 
+2...recently I so very nearly bought a 968 club sport as a daily driver, in the end the age and mileage clouded my decision and i bought an E46 M3...what an idiot...[&:]
 
The 968 has been my daily driver for the last 5 years, can`t fault it for anything, reliable, practical, affordable and fun motoring on a daily basis.

Have you ever tried getting a partner, the associated luggage that goes with them, 2 mountain bikes and your own luggage for a weeks holiday in a 993! Fortunately, you can in a 968.
 
Though I love 911 of all flavours having had a 944 they (944's / 968's or even a decent 924) are a fantastic blend of practicality, performance, retro '80's/early '90's feel - but not too retro, and cheap to run. I am looking forward to the day I get back in one as soon as the family situation allows, though early 996 turbo's are looking very tempting!

But back to the original question - I guess i'd like to pick up on the 'drivers car' comment. I'm not sure, certainly in my mind, that an Evo counts as a drivers car. Though they have blistering performance and i'm sure will out-corner and out-handle a 993 I really don't think that the driver can take much credit for the performance with all that fancy 4wd, active yaw control, a plethora of traction control devices and differential trickery going on saving the drivers skin often without the driver ever knowing they've got themselves into a spot of trouble. At least with a 993 if you take that corner just right or manage to recover a wayward back end, at least you'll know for sure it is due to either driver skill or luck or a combination of both. The 993 might not be as easy to drive as fast as an Evo, but as a drivers car rather than a real-life driving simulator surely the 993 is the only option?
