Broken switch tabs

I have tried searching but to no avail. []

Surely there must be a decent way of repairing broken switch tabs and getting the switches to stay attached to the trim panels on the dash??

Has anyone managed it successfully.

My old 944 had a few broken ones. I tried the hazard warning lights today on the new 944 and the whole hazard warning switch sank into the dash []

I've Araldited them in the past, not ideal and you need to be very careful with the trim piece when reassembling so you don't damage that and have to start pulling them apart again.

To be honest, the switches and trims are still available new at such a decent price that a new one seems sensible.

No more brittle plastic, lovely white decals, and they work properly. And you know they'll be good for 25 years.

I didn't realise you could still get all the trims still tbh. So i assume they are less brittle then? I just thought the switches were not made to be removed and hence the brittleness was there the moment the 944's rolled out of the factory.

Most of the dash trim parts are under £20 new. Problem is they don't match the other parts that have 25 years wear! Switches are about £40 I think, and look a million dollars.

I'd be tempted to buy the whole lot new, and stick the old ones on ebay. Right or wrong, there's a market for old, broken 944 parts that sell for more than the new ones!

Are the new trim pieces more 'black' than very dark brown. Ive always wondered if they faded slightly or if they were always like that?

Glad someone else's dash plastic is dark brown...mine's a sort of "antiqued finish". Doesn't look brilliant with the all blue interior!

Worth knowing that new switches are still available...thanks Paul.

I bought a new clock surround piece and it stuck out like a shiny black sore thumb.

I ended up spraying all the trim pieces satin black in the end.

Out of interest did you find the post in the end? I saw this post and was keen for a new set as well. Would be really interested but cant seem to find the exact post.
