Brakes when wet

I've noticed recently when I drive away my car having washed it that the brakes are particularly bad for longer than usual. I'd expect the brakes to be poor when first applied to wet discs but my car seems to be bad for longer. My OPC had a quick look on a ramp and everything looks to be good and as the brakes work fine when dry were at a loss to explain.

The car has done 26k miles and there is ample wear in the pads according to the OPC. Has anyone had a similar experience.

Wet brakes in cold temps need a bit more warming up to get back to full efficiency.

Hi Keith,

Normally you’d expect the braking efficiency to improve significantly after 2 or 3 heavy brake applications, but as Ian has said, low ambient temperatures will affect this.

Frankly I’m always amazed how quickly the discs show signs of rust on my Cayman … often before I’ve completed washing and drying it! All down to the cast iron spec used by Porsche for the discs.
