Brake pad wear sensor - connections

Hi all

Rear brake pad wear sensor on my Lux has worn off at the end that connects to the car. (Well, actually, connects into the cylindrical plastic thing clipped to the rear of the wheel assembly). I got a new one, and went to replace it, but the end of the new connector doesn't seem to be compatible with the "plug" that goes into the cylindrical plastic thing.

The bottom end of the wire and the bottom end of the plastic plug in the picture linked below should join together, but I can't see a way to make them do so.

Have I got an incorrect part, or am I missing something?

I'm guessing here (haven't had the brakes apart on my S2 yet) but I think the plastic thing on the right is what remains of the plastic thing on the left. Porsche says the brake wear sensors can be reused until the plastic end is worn down to expose the metal contact. It looks to me like the right piece is the sensor worn down to expose the metal contact and the cable is detached.

IIRC the parts catalog shows the wear sensors as one piece - sensor molded onto the cable end - so one end should plug into the wiring harness and other clips into the caliper so it can be worn down by the rotors. No?
 
Thanks, but I don't think so. I didn't explain that very well. The white plug on the right connects into a cylindrical connector on the back of the wheel assembly, it doesn't go anywhere near the actual brake pad. (The wear sensor didn't wear through - the pads are fine. The non-brake-pad end of the wire just corroded and dropped off the white plug). The wire on the left is the non-brake-pad end of the replacement wear sensor - I'm going to replace it even though it's not worn through as I have a spare anyway. I can see the two terminals in each that should connect, but can't figure out how they actually fit together. Does that make more sense? Hopefully a bit!
 
There are early and late sensors if that helps. One has a barrel style connector and the other has a two prong white connector. So yes you have the wrong part.
Mine has the bulb removed.
 
I just connected mine up so the light never comes on but does the bulb check with the ignition. I think it is connect each pair of wires at each corner together?

I made the same mistake with my 87 turbo. If you find the right ones somewhere, please post a link as i haven't found the right ones yet. Haven't tried too hard to find them tbh though.

I bought the only wear sensor GSF had in stock - they said it would fit my car, but nooo...

Craig, you can get new ones from Euro Cap Parts for about £9 a go. They have plenty in stock.
Giles, the one you need for the single piston caliper is 944 612 212 00 by the look of things with the 2 pin barrel connector. Craig needs the later one with the oval one which is 944 612 365 01 which has the 2 contacts. If you speak with Euro, give them htose numbers to cross reference. Do the same with GSF if Euro don't have them.
Second hand ones are usually brittle and the contact plates falls apart.

Craig, the one that I got from GSF (which claims to be suitable for turbos, though it only has a single horseshoe connector at the brake end, and I heard turbos may need double horseshoe ends?) is here: http://www.gsfcarparts.com/649po0090

Alasdair, yes, I need the 2 pin white figure of 8 type barrel connector, going to a single horseshoe at the brake end. ECP does seem to have these, but they're Pagid aftermarket offerings, at £13.60 a piece. I've got a couple on the way from Elliot already, so I'll see how they go.
