Boxster Insurance - again !!

I know this has been a popular topic of conversation on the yahoo group, however I still need some guidance.
I have just started to ring around for renewals on my 2.7 Boxster. and have been a tad surprised by the hike in premiums from last year.

Has anyone any tips - bearing in mind I' m under 30 (29)

Paul.

Is marriage, a time machine or a sex change an option?

Aside from phoning around I' m not sure what to suggest.
You might be better off going through a broker rather then the internet or a direct operation since they have more scope to " tailor" the quote to your circumstances (if you have not already tried this).
Otherwise you could always challenge them to match your best " offer" , and see if anyone will match last years quote (they won' t know you are being economical with the truth).
Limiting miles and increasing the excess help to reduce the quote. You could always ask the insurance company what they think, maybe they can recommend advanced driving lessons, extra vehicle security, or something to reduce their perceived risk levels.

For insurance it seems to be every man for himself.

Rgds, Stuart.

Performance Marques did a good quote for me which includes PCGB track day cover and PCGB membership. Less than last year. I' m married, 28 with a FNCB and the car is garaged overnight. The other guys that were really good but didn' t include track day cover were A Plan....

If you are a member of the Yahoo Boxster Group you will have read various comments on this subject, the most recent being a recommendation about a relatively new company called Esure for low risk drivers, it is possible that you are too young to take advantage (bless you!)but having read about it, I got a quote myself and managed to knock a whopping £250 off the Performance Marque quote I had just renewed at only a month before. This together with a slight altercation with a manager at PM led me to cancel my insurance and move it to Esure, the cancellation fee for the remaining 11 months I got back, will pay for a full twelve months with Esure!! I was assured I could choose my repairer if the unthinkable should happen i.e. go to an OPC.

Cheers!

It is possible that you are too young to take advantage (bless you!)

I tried an on-line quote at esure and I' m apparently too young to drive a Boxster so I imagine you' ll be as well Paul...... A shame because the savings look excellent! Oh well roll on middle age.....

Thanks to everyone for the info. Mike was right - esure won' t touch me due to age.

My best quote to date is with Admiral, £1040 (includes courtesy car & use of OPC' s for repairs).

I have been with Direct Line for nearly 3 years now.
I' m 25, Full NCB, Prot NCB, Tracker, allowed use on other vehicles 3rd party.
F/Comp, no mileage limitation works out to be around £750.

Also, try www.confused.com

Enter your details and their automated program shops about for you.
It' s a good start point (although a colleague has just been quoted £3000.90 for an Integra Type R, it' s still worth a try)

Be aware that these online jobbies have strict rules and aren' t into negotiation.
They employ age limits strictly and I believe most have a limit of £35K on the car (which may not be an issue after the first year on a Boxster).

Although not an issue any more (there has to be some benefit for being greyer, thinner on top and more forgetful[&:] (I' m not that old though[;)])), I used to find speaking to some of these people in person more useful.
Although the market is very cost concious, it is not always the case that brokers are worse. They can sometimes decide to take risks that the computer programs at the direct companies or online people won' t.

It seems also that Direct Line are competitive again. 10 years ago they were, then they spun off Privilege and became risk averse, now they seem keen to capture some high value customers again. Each year it is different.
Esure were excellent but don' t seem to want to cover my new C4S.

I don' t know whether you use your car for business, but this seems either to make a marginal difference, or be a complete killer.

Just to be of help, here are the quotes I just got for a 2000 W reg S, based on £29K, car parked on the drive in Surrey, approx 8K miles pa (1000 business), myself (37) & wife (36) to drive, 6 years (65%) NCB. I have SP50 & SP60, my wife has SP30.
A-Plan £872 protected bonus, £786 unprotected - £500 excess.
RAC Direct £1371 - £300 excess.
Performance Marque £1548 - £600 excess.
Norwich Union Direct £935 protected bonus, £881 unprotected - £520 excess.
Nowell & Richards £1168 - £600 excess.
Direct Line £861 - £600 excess - Required tracker to be fitted + would not protect bonus.
IAM Select £1124 - £400 excess.

Went with A-Plan in the end. Just glad it' s all over for another year.

You just have to keep ringing. What' s good for one person is not good for another. As there are so many factors that effect your premium you have little choice. Many people have been able to get a reduction on last years prices it would seem.
