Apparently I have insufficient privileges to post on Boxster/Cayman thread! Perhaps these need retitling as most technical stuff is same across both vehicles? Not a lot being discussed so here’s one from me:
Why is there a gaping hole in wheel arch liner that in theory is to stop spray….it is letting water into area behind frunk…. More cleaning😢

As a non member I too can not post in the Boxster section

I have also asked the same `hole` question both here and at an OPC, no definitive answer

My take is that it is based on the design for LHD and provides an air route for the passenger compartment air / AC system filtration inlet

Hi Andrew CS. Something has gone wrong with id’s. I’m PCGB ‘joint’ membership but don’t know why. Anyway, checked wife’s Boxster and it’s same so sounds like you’re right about L/R specs. It’s just silly really that such a well thought through product leaves this apparently as ‘that’ll be fine’ approach. Looks like a couple of ice cream tubs are going to get the chop….after warranty runs out of course. 😂 Proper job would be staggered plastic vent so stops water in but allows airway.

I initially blocked mine (981 CS) with `tank tape`, I did not bother on the 981 GT4 but did opt to refurbish the rusting bolts that secure the cross-chassis brace

On a positive note ... the `hole` can be used as access for a permanent battery charger - conditioner connection, for use should a flat battery prevent opening of the trunk lid

Turning the negative to positive. Well done Andrew 🥳
