bought an engine off ebay!

last week I bought an engine(3.0 s2 1990) off ebay for 2 reasons 1 it was cheap and 2 I need a few things and some of the parts on the engine are in great condition and it came with everything from crossmember ,clutch housing and throttle body ,engine mounts, full engine wiring loom ,everything !

now the engine was a non-runner ,slipped belt and on stripping it my next job is the cylinder head off although because Ive got the inlet and exhaust manifolds off I can see all the valves are bent but through the spark plug hole with a camera the pistons look ok ,the cams look fantastic everything under the cam cover looks really good ,the cam covers look nice (main reason why I bought it )

so far Ive stripped off the bell housing ,clutch, flywheel ,the clutch was the original rubber dougnut but apart from the friction surface is worn the rubber cluch drive plate looks mint the the rubber part is perfect ,I might consider re-lining the clutch plate as its so good Ive already priced this up at 60quid and the firm had done this before

Ive taken off all the coolant ,breather and induction hoses plus the the inlet and exhaust manifolds everything was in good nick just dirty ,there was a new cranksensor ,and plug leads in good nick

I'm pleased with it and may plan to have things like the bell housing manifolds etc vapour blasted and use them when i eventually rebuild my s2 engine

tomorrow I'm gonna get the head off and completely strip the rest of the engine ,wrap most the the bits up sprayed with wd40 and in cling film ,if the rest of the parts that havent been damaged like the crank etc are as good as the cams I'll be dead chuffed

... and the point of this post is what, precisely?

(Harsh. But it needed to be asked.)

Hope it goes well.
