Does anybody have, or know where I might borrow (or short-term hire) a standard set of 17" rims plus road legal tyres for a 993? I'm having mine refurbished starting Monday (27th Oct) and the work is expected to take a couple of weeks. I don't want to leave the car in their yard, or garage for that time with the obvious chance of damage to the paint work (it's had a back to metal respray). I live in the Chiltern region and would be happy to pick them up and drop them off.

Borrowing a standard set of 17" wheels for a 993

Probably too late because it sounds like you have already booked in with a firm, but if not I'd recommend Chris at Excel Wheels https://exelwheels.co.uk because he comes to you with a spare set of wheels, swaps them, takes yours away to refurbish, comes back a week or two later. He is based somewhere in South East but was happy to drive to Yorkshire to meet me when I was on a visit down there, then repeat two weeks later.
No connection, other than having used him a couple of times over the last decade or so.
PS you don't necessarily need 17" as long as the rims are correct offsets for a 993, the 16" "standard" or 18" would work fine for your purpose.
(And I'd happily lend you my winter wheels, but I'm in Scotland!)

I have a set of 17" wheels, originally on a Boxster, which I used briefly as winter wheels on my 993 cabriolet. They are shod with excellent Vredestein tyres and I'm about to post them for sale, but in the short term you are welcome to borrow them. I'm near Bridgnorth in Shropshire, but away till the weekend, so collection would have to be from Saturday.
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the advice. I choose the company Bespoke Wheels because they were local and had a good reputation, but nothing is final until I drop the car off. So I will contact Chris and cancel my current booking and take it from there. And Scotland is a fair old drive, although probably enjoyable, but thanks anyway.
