On my j reg s2 the boot cover/blind isn't retractable, unlike on my old 924s lemans. It just gets in the way when putting anything in the boot and knowing me ill damage it sooner or later when chucking a buggy in there. A step backwards surely? Very unporschelike, or am I missing something?
 
Do you have the optional split rear seats? The boot cover wasn't retractable on those. The "normal" non-split rear seat cars had the retractable roller-blind style cover but this couldn't be used on the split rears.
 
I do have split seats, is that the price paid for having them split? Fair enough. Would prefer retractable blind I think.
 
My S2 with split seats has clips for the cover both on the boot sill and on the bottom of the window frame. I use the window frame clips so that when you open the hatch - the cover lifts with it. Agreed it is not full open like a retractable cover but then again - my cover is soft, stretchy cloth.
 
Mines the same Bruce, but when I stretch it over a buggy it looks like it will rip at any minute, so I roll it up and stuff it at the front of the boot. Not ideal, but don't worry, I'm not losing any sleep over it.

It should have stretch cord on the ends of the front support bar that are attached to twist to lock ferulles that fix into sockets on the body below the rear seat belt top mount - at least mine did anyway.

Any rug will do, but a genuine Scottish woolen ruug in Blackwatch tartan for £20/£35 would doit for me.

I have put a retractable blind from a none split seat car in mine by zip tieing the ends to the rear seat belt fittings, works a treat, but have to cut it off if I want to put something large in the back with the seats down. Mk 2 version will have carebina type fittings in place of the zip ties.
 
Mine has the split seats and I can't see me ever needing to lower just one of them. Across each of the seat tops I attached a length of wood and then attached a normal retractable blind to the wood using a screw at either end. It now operates just like a single seat back but if I ever did want to lower just one seat I just need to remove the two screws and take the blind off.
 
Original "rag" style cover is really expensive. Wonder if metal parts are made of gold or something. I made new curtain since old one was badly faded. Used all aluminium parts etc from old one . Too much sun usually ruins the fabric.

This is mine.






Because its not attached to the seat backs they can be put down individually.

Looking at the pictures has anyone got a good condition boot mat in black for sale?
