Boot catch leak

You're correct there - although the back does seem to seat-in as much as the original. I can just cut 4-5mm off as Ken did, just makes me think that they're a certain size for a reason so a little reluctant to cut!

is the 968 rear panel the same as a 944? the 944 version does not stick out......I tryed but the only way was to cut and it worked[:)]

Not sure tbh ref the panel. Not doubting you Ken, just always nervous cutting new parts but it looks like that's what's going to happen! [:)]

Hey - I just recieved an eMail telling me there was a reply to this thread. Looks like the eMail reminder system is working again! Well done mods. Oli.

Ditto, I've been getting emails too! [:D]

I wonder if a bit off slicone under the inner eage would create a clean tidy seal? Never understood how them rubbers can be 100% water tight. Cut one and see. Wouldn't cut mm by mm as the rubber splits around the raised eage easy when removing and instoling, been to carefull MIT end up spoiling the item all togther

I had the same problem even after they were fitted nicely, still a little drip. I put a generous helping of clear silicone (under and around, after masking paint, as the stuff is well sticky and then fitted the rubber back onto this base. No leaks now and the silicone comes of the rubber pretty easily so you end up not seeing anything differently. Ian

I've always felt the same Terry, esp since trying to fit the new rubbers, can 't see how they'd ever be that water tight! Ian - I may well be following suit!

I just recently bought a new pair of these rubbers as mine were old and knackered looking. I had to take them out to paint the car, when I ordered new ones from my OPC (Glasgow) they came exactly the same as the old ones ( no sticky out bits on them ) and they fitted perfectly after a bit of pushing and swearing.I used a round ended tool to push the thick end of the rubber into the recess. Why did you get the 968 version?

Maybe by mistake Colin! lol I recalled reading on here to go for the 968 ones as better. I asked OPC and they said same part number and price so could use them so I thought what the hell! I can fit them easily tbh, just cant get them to sit flush. Think will cut some of the legs off as Ken suggests and see what happens!

Not done it yet Terry tbh. My sons head gasket had gone so have been fixing that. Hope to fit them one evening this week or Saturday latest

Ok so I've cut the lugs off, leaving about 5mm and fitted them tonight. Let's see if the car stays water tight now [&:]

They did Ken, will see over the next few days if it's now water tight. I did get the car washed at a local £5 wash place today and so far looks good! :)

ORIGINAL: Hairyarse Got them for £27.01 each plus VAT
Strewth! Nearly £65 for a couple of bits of moulded rubber! That's properly steep. Oli.
Indeedy, but for the Stag a pair of door rubber seals came to around that amount (they don't even go around the entire door due to it being a drop top!). With that last fact it mind, the bill is probably closer to a ton if you change the roof seals on a Snag [:(]).
