bonnet release

hello, this might be a stupid question but I cannot for the life in me figure out how to sort the bonnet release on my 2.5 lux. is there instructions or a diagram or something? it worked when I got it but I pulled it a tad too hard and now the cover has come off and I am not sure if the cable is supposed to wrap around the bracket or where it is supposed to go through to get some leverage. it just seems loose.

I has something similar on my 924S. The cable lever mechanism plastic seemed rather fragile and kept breaking. In the end a friendly mechanic fitted a strong pull-type cable release just under the dashboard - no more problems.
 
The same thing happened to me. If you pull the carpet away from around the release mechanism, you'll see the cable has a little housing that it sits in. I had to remove the entire mechanism to get it to fit back in place. If you've broken it, you can buy replacements on ebay for £10-15. I plan to replace mine when I'm paid!
